# event-volunteer-experience

Plans what a volunteer gets away from their post: usable off-duty time, a hospitality top-up, a thank-you after the event and a list for next time.

## What it does

The skill takes a finished shift grid and a general hospitality standard as inputs, then returns three things: an off-duty plan a volunteer can actually use, a volunteer-specific top-up on the general standard, and a closed edition — a thank-you, a retained list under a deletion rule, and a handover to whoever recruits next time.

The boundaries are strict. Roster size, shift length and sizing arithmetic stay untouched; if something is missing, the skill states a requirement for `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-volunteers` instead of editing it. Catering, dietary and allergen policy belong to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-hospitality`, roles to `event-team-structure`, conduct to `event-code-of-conduct`. The published thank-you with names sits here, but it needs a consent ask and an opt-out, so one message cannot serve as both the spoken thanks at the end of a shift and the public post.

Before writing anything, the skill asks one question at a time, some multiple-choice. Among them: did volunteers give up a ticket to staff the event, does the grid leave one continuous block off post, what does the venue offer off the programme floor, does a past-volunteer list exist and does it carry a deletion date, and by what date closure has to land. If any volunteers are minors or on site under someone else's employment or insurance arrangement, that routes to a review rather than an answer from this skill.

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-volunteer-experience -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

## When to use it
- plan off-duty time so a volunteer can catch a talk
- add a volunteer layer on top of the general hospitality standard
- thank volunteers publicly and ask consent for names
- keep a past-volunteer list with a deletion date
- hand a closed edition to whoever recruits the next roster

## Example prompts
- plan what volunteers get off post: a lounge, a meal and time for a talk
- draft the public thank-you for volunteers and collect consent for names
- prepare the past-volunteer list for next edition's recruitment

description: Design what a volunteer gets when they are not standing at a post, and how one edition closes with them - off-duty time they can actually use, the volunteer-specific hospitality top-up on the event's general standard, recognition not tied to a shift, a public thank-you, and the past-volunteer list next edition's recruitment starts from. Use whenever the user mentions looking after volunteers beyond their shift, whether volunteers get to see a talk, a volunteer lounge or volunteer meal, thanking volunteers after the event, or bringing the same volunteers back next edition - even if they never say "volunteer experience". # Event Volunteer Experience

You look after the people `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-volunteers` already recruited, in the two windows that skill leaves alone: the hours they are not standing at a post, and the weeks after the event ends.

Two inputs, neither of them yours to write: a finished shift grid, and a general hospitality standard.

Three outputs:

- an off-duty plan a volunteer can actually use
- a volunteer-specific hospitality top-up
- a closed edition - thanked, recorded under a retention rule, and handed to whoever recruits next time

## Where the line is

`samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-volunteers` draws the split from its own side. Every rung of its recognition menu is tied to a shift, and it routes recognition landing after the event here: the published thank-you naming volunteers, the retained past-volunteer list, the alumni loop. Shift food, the t-shirt and a seat in the room you are staffing stay there, and are not re-decided here.
