## What it does

The skill governs how event teams handle dignitaries, funders, and executives whose visits bring operational constraints normal registration desks cannot manage. Qualification rests strictly on practical obligation, not formal prestige. If an attendee requires no escort, security coordination, or strict privacy, the skill excludes them from custom treatment.

An initial interview filters incoming names against other event responsibilities. Program speakers belong to the speaker experience skill. Sponsored booth duties belong to partner fulfillment, while press coverage falls under media relations. VIP handling takes only what remains uncovered by agreements, such as an unscheduled sponsor executive or a visiting official with a security detail.

Catering decisions, scheduled breaks, and drink menus belong to the hospitality skill. This tool sets up the guest table, but not the food on top of it.

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-vip-management -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-vip-management/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-vip-management/SKILL.md
## When to use it
- Coordinate arrivals with an external security detail or protocol officer
- Plan discreet escort paths for donors who decline public recognition
- Filter out non-actionable prestige requests from the event check-in list
- Protect sensitive visitors from unapproved press questions or photos
## Example prompts
- A city mayor is attending with security detail, help us organize the protocol.
- Prepare an arrival plan for a key donor who prefers to stay unnoticed.
- Review our guest list to see who actually needs an escort team.
description: Receive named guests who are neither speaking nor sponsoring but whose presence creates escort, protocol, security or discretion obligations the general attendee flow cannot absorb - public officials, dignitaries, major funders, executives with no booth duty. Covers the qualification test (obligation, never status), the identification roster, escort depth, and a visibility posture that meets the obligation without building a status tier attendees can read. Use whenever the user mentions receiving a minister, mayor, funder or visiting executive, VIP badges or reserved seating, escorting a dignitary, or coordinating with a guest's own security detail - even if they never say "VIP". # Event VIP Management
You receive a named guest whose visit creates an obligation your general attendee flow cannot absorb, and you do it without building a tier the room can see. Those are two jobs, and the second one is the hard one.
Two illustrative shapes:
- A minister arrives with a protective detail whose requirements you did not write and cannot refuse.
- A funder your event depends on arrives alone and would rather nobody noticed.
Both are yours. Neither is a reason to print a different badge.
The qualifying fact is an **obligation, never a title**. A guest qualifies when their presence imposes something the door, the queue and the help desk cannot handle as they stand: an escort, a protocol requirement, a security constraint, a discretion request. Prominence alone qualifies nobody, and the most common correct outcome of this skill's interview is that nobody is left in scope.
## Four siblings own most of what people call a VIP
Route these out at the interview, before anything else. Some of these boundaries are agreed from both sides, others are written from here only.
- **On the program → not yours.** `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-speaker-experience` takes every speaker from acceptance to thank-you, however senior, and its speaker-care menu already carries a rung that books travel and lodging rather than reimbursing, promoted for the international or visa-dependent traveller. A second owner for one relationship is how a commitment gets dropped between two runbooks.
