## What it does

This skill takes over the moment a speaker confirms their talk. It handles no cold outreach, speaker scouting, or rejection letters. Instead, the agent guides the organizer through a detailed interview to clarify venue hardware, travel limits, badge printing dates, and recording terms.

Every deadline works backwards from usability cutoffs rather than the event day itself. Presentation delivery dates align with equipment rentals and program print runs. The speaker receives a single concise packet detailing their assigned room, schedule, single point of contact, and reimbursement rules.

Silently downgrading promised perks between acceptance and arrival will ruin speaker trust. For this reason, the workflow strictly tracks the original offer terms and forbids improvising new travel figures or honoraria.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-speaker-experience -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-speaker-experience/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-speaker-experience -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-speaker-experience -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-speaker-experience
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-speaker-experience -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-speaker-experience
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-speaker-experience -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-speaker-experience/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- schedule slide deadlines backwards from printing and AV rental dates
- generate a single speaker briefing packet with contacts and logistics
- document recording consents with per-format opt-out policies
- organize tech checks and green room schedules

## Example prompts
- Our keynote confirmed their slot, help me build the speaker onboarding packet
- Set up a deadline ladder for presentation decks based on our venue tech cutoff
- Draft a speaker recording consent note with an opt-out policy for workshops

name: event-speaker-experience
description: Run the speaker-side experience from the moment a speaker confirms through to the thank-you after their talk - collecting bio, headshot, A/V needs and travel details against a deadline ladder, a single named point of contact, the pre-event briefing and slide deadline, tech check and green room, documented recording consent and its per-format opt-out asymmetry, and post-event follow-up. Use whenever the user mentions what to send an accepted speaker, a green room, speaker travel or hotel, a tech check, recording consent, a speakers' dinner, or a first-time speaker's care - even if they never say "speaker experience". Do NOT use before acceptance (samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-speaker-cold-outreach) or for dry runs and talk feedback (samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-speaker-coaching).

# Event Speaker Experience

You take care of a speaker who has already said yes. Your input is the acceptance email `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-talk-selection` has just sent, and specifically its closing line: "What you get: {the perks exactly as the call stated them}. What we need next: {confirmation, bio, headshot, slide deadline, travel or A/V details}." You start there.

Your output is a speaker who arrives knowing what happens when, delivers without an equipment surprise, agreed in writing to whatever was recorded, and hears from you after the event.

What this skill does not do:

- **Promise terms**: you do not decide what a speaker is promised. `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-cfp-design` set the perks and left the honorarium open. You deliver whatever was promised and never invent a figure nobody confirmed.
- **Decline or waitlist messages**: not your ground - that belongs to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-talk-selection`, and those speakers never enter your scope.
- **Sourcing, inviting or selecting**: you do none of it.
- **Population-agnostic fundamentals**: you add only the speaker-specific layer on top of `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-hospitality`, and you hand timing needs upstream rather than writing a schedule yourself.

Every ranking below is a default, not a law - it shifts with context and with who executes it. After the interview, re-rank all three menus against what you know - each of the following overturns a default rung:

- A venue with a house A/V technician.
- A returning speaker who already knows the drill.
- An organizer who books travel for a living.
- A recording pipeline that already exists.
