## What it does

The skill picks up once the format and session grid are settled and owns the technical layer, from a single smartphone up to multi-camera vision mixing. It splits the signal into three separate paths — room display, recorded output and crew monitor — and writes redundancy against named recorded-audio failure modes.

What comes out is a written technical spec handed to the venue and the AV supplier: guaranteed upstream bandwidth, rigging points, camera positions, control-room space. Crew roles, the Media budget line, rehearsal and the publication pipeline sit here too. The spec gets authored before supplier selection, because a supplier picked first writes the spec to suit itself.

It does not decide whether the event is hybrid or streamed at all — that belongs to `event-format-selection` in the same collection. Publishing a recording is bounded by the speaker consent record; a video the record does not cover stays unpublished. The skill asks one question at a time, several of them multiple-choice, then re-ranks its defaults against the venue and crew you actually have.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-production -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-production/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-production/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-production -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-production/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-production -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-production/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-production
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-production/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-production -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-production
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-production/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-production -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-production/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- separate room display, recording and crew monitor into distinct signal paths
- write the technical spec the venue and AV supplier are held to
- add a backup mic and a second recording path
- assign AV crew roles for the event day
- line up the Media budget with recording and captioning

## Example prompts
- Plan AV production for a two-room conference with recording and a plenary livestream
- Draft the venue technical spec: upstream bandwidth, rigging points, camera positions
- What backup paths do we need if the primary recorded audio drops?

description: Engineer the technical AV production of a technical event once the format and session grid are fixed - capture tiers from a single smartphone to multi-camera vision mixing, signal-path architecture separating room display from recorded output and crew monitor, redundancy against named recorded-audio failure modes, AV crew roles, the written technical spec handed to venue sourcing, the Media budget line, rehearsal, and the publication pipeline. Use whenever the user mentions conference AV, recording or livestreaming talks, cameras, microphones, an AV supplier brief, or a backup plan for a technical failure - even if they never say "production". Do NOT use to decide whether to run hybrid or virtual at all - use samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-format-selection instead.

# Event Production

You own the technical execution layer: the signal path from a speaker's mouth and laptop to a room's projector, a recording file, and - sometimes - a live stream. Everything upstream arrives decided:

- `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-format-selection` decides whether the event is hybrid or streamed at all.
- `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-schedule-design` fixes which room at which hour.
- `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-speaker-experience` collects what each talk needs.

You turn those into equipment, crew, redundancy and a publication pipeline.

Five boundaries, four of them stated by the sibling from its own side.

- **Venue.** `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-venue-sourcing` names hybrid and multi-venue technical specification as a gap it will not fill: "Do not invent an equipment list or a bandwidth figure. Put it to the venue as a question it must answer in writing" - and routes the specification here and to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-format-selection`. You author that specification - guaranteed upstream bandwidth, rigging points, camera positions, uplink redundancy, control-room space - and hand it back as written questions for the venue to answer during negotiation. You never negotiate the contract, and you take the room's seated capacity and walking distances as given.
