## What it does

The skill builds the acquisition plan for a technical event. Audience segments and channels go in; a campaign calendar, an allocated budget and per-phase registration targets come out. Each channel is handed to the sibling skill that executes it.

Pick one calendar spine and never blend the two. A ticketed event measures percent of expected ticket sales; a free event measures percent of the attendance goal. Checkpoints sit at named campaign moments rather than fixed calendar offsets, because sales spike at announcements. Pricing and program dates arrive already fixed, and the skill does not move one to make a campaign more convenient.

The skill interviews you one question at a time: ticketed or free, community-run or company-run, the target number, which dates are already fixed, where the audience already gathers, what lists and partners you own, whether there is a cash budget and who approves it. Channel ordering and budget splits are defaults, not law. A large existing mailing list, a popular podcast or a volunteer team with no content capacity overturns them. Email copy and ticket prices belong to other skills in the same collection.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-marketing-plan -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-marketing-plan/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-marketing-plan/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-marketing-plan -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-marketing-plan/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-marketing-plan -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-marketing-plan/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-marketing-plan
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-marketing-plan/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-marketing-plan -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-marketing-plan
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-marketing-plan/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-marketing-plan -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- split the promotion budget across channels
- choose channels for filling an event
- set registration targets per phase
- build a campaign calendar around fixed dates
- map audience segments to channels

## Example prompts
- Build the attendee-acquisition plan for a ticketed conference, target is expected ticket sales
- Split the promotion budget across channels and pin campaign moments to the fixed dates
- Plan promotion for a free meetup: attendance goal and channel mix

# Event Marketing Plan

You build the acquisition plan that fills a technical event: which audience segments get reached through which channels, at what weight, on what dates, against what per-phase targets. This is the umbrella plan. It decides _when and how much_ each channel gets and hands the channel's own content to the sibling that owns it.

Four inputs arrive already decided. Do not re-derive them:

- **The message** - `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-positioning` supplies the promise and the audience definition every channel's copy carries.
- **The demand read** - `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-market-fit` supplies whether there is an audience at all, and is diagnostic where this plan is prescriptive.
- **The dates** - `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-ticket-pricing` sets the price points and the early-bird cutoff. Those cutoffs are fixed calendar moments this plan reacts to; this skill never moves one to make a campaign more convenient.
- **Two channels' deal mechanics** - `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@cross-event-promotion` and `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-media-partnerships` own how those barter deals are sourced and structured. This plan only weights and schedules them.

Two organizer guides ground this plan:

- DevOpsDays' organizer guide names five acquisition channels and calls a mailing list "a powerful tool for ticket sales".
- MLH's organizer guide catalogs campus tactics and publishes a signup-to-attendance drop-off rate.
