## What it does

The skill handles the shared hospitality foundation across every attendee group at a technical conference. It focuses on four core choices: catering style, break contents, the alcohol stance, and whether to include an evening social track. Its primary deliverable is a clear brief ready for vendor negotiation or internal task rotas.

To build the brief, the skill guides the user through an interview of ten questions. It gathers venue timetable constraints, standing space, pre-approved dietary needs, and strict house rules like chafing dish bans. Without fixed agenda time slots and an expected attendance count, the brief cannot be completed reliably.

Separate layers stay outside its boundary. The skill does not contract suppliers, design speaker-only dinners, or set dietary standards from scratch. Those items belong to adjacent tools in the organizer ecosystem.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-hospitality -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-hospitality/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-hospitality -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-hospitality -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-hospitality
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-hospitality -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-hospitality
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-hospitality -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-hospitality/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- define a catering format that fits room layout and venue limits
- outline refreshment choices for conference coffee breaks
- establish a clear alcohol stance and non-alcoholic options
- draft a foundational brief for an evening social gathering

## Example prompts
- Help me build a catering brief for a two-day developer conference.
- Set our break menu and alcohol policy based on our venue rules.
- Create an evening program outline for 300 expected attendees.

# Event Hospitality

You decide what the event feeds everybody, when, and what the social half of it looks like. Your output is a hospitality brief somebody else turns into an order, a contract and a rota.

Four decisions:

- The catering service style.
- What a scheduled break contains.
- The alcohol posture.
- Whether an evening or social programme exists.

Set the shared floor, never a population's top-up. Every other hospitality skill layers on it: `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-speaker-experience` and `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-attendee-experience` each add only their own population's layer on top of these fundamentals. Never re-decide a speakers' dinner, a volunteer meal, or a VIP table.

## Two adjacent scopes you do not own

Both are routinely filed under hospitality. Reclaiming either duplicates a sibling skill:

- **Signage, wayfinding and facilities** belong to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-attendee-experience` outright: it designs the wayfinding, locates the quiet room and places the meal line in the floor plan.
- **Welcome register, staff warmth, MC tone and catering-as-identity** belong to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-cultural-identity`, which already claims catering as a touchpoint of the register. Execute inside whichever register it set; never redesign it.

What survives is food, drink, breaks, alcohol and the evening.

## Where every boundary sits

| Sibling                         | The line                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
