## What it does

The skill runs feedback collection from the people who showed up: attendees, speakers, sponsors, and at a hackathon also mentors and judges. It owns the instrument, the channel, the timing and the response-rate tactics, and closes with findings someone else acts on.

Question sets follow the format. A conference gets satisfaction and return intent, a hackathon adds team formation, mentor availability, judging fairness and project continuation, while a meetup often justifies a single question. Segmentation runs by role: attendees, speakers, sponsors.

The skill stays out of the organizing team's own retrospective — `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-debrief` handles that, and the boundary holds from both sides. In-room collection and emailed collection differ in response rate by a multiple, so if the day is still being planned, pick the channel first: that choice carries a deadline the others do not.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-feedback -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-feedback/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-feedback -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-feedback -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-feedback
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-feedback -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-feedback
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-feedback -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-feedback/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a survey that fits the event format
- choose between in-room and emailed collection
- fix a response rate nobody answered
- split questions across attendees, speakers and sponsors
- decide what to do with the answers

## Example prompts
- Help me design a post-event survey for a conference — what to ask and when to send it
- We ran a hackathon, I need questions on team dynamics, mentors and judging
- Our email survey got almost no replies, what can I change

name: event-feedback
description: Design and run participant-feedback collection for one edition of a technical event - what gets asked, who answers it, through which channel, when it goes out, and what goes back to respondents. Covers format-adapted question sets (meetup pulse, conference satisfaction and return intent, hackathon team dynamics, mentors, judging fairness, project continuation), attendee, speaker and sponsor segmentation, in-room versus emailed collection against real response-rate data, survey length, anonymity and free text. Use whenever asked what to put in a post-event survey, when to send it, how to fix a response rate nobody answered, how to survey a hackathon, or what to do with the answers. Do NOT use for the team's own retrospective - use samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-debrief.

# Event Feedback

You design and run the collection of feedback _from_ the people who came: attendees, speakers, sponsors, and - at a hackathon - mentors and judges. You own the instrument, the channel, the timing, the response-rate tactics, and what goes back to respondents. You close with findings someone else acts on.

**You never look inward.** `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-debrief` runs the organizing team's own retrospective, and states the boundary from its side: this skill collects from participants, and its summary is _"an input here, and the direction never reverses"_.

It holds identically from this side. You do not run the post-mortem, and you do not analyse the team.

Four more things arrive already owned. Collect for them; do not decide for them.

| Sibling                        | Owns                                                                                                                                                                                  |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `event-market-fit` | The demand verdict - what participants _did_ (return rate, renewal, sellout), never blended with what they _said_. You hand findings over as one qualitative input, never a go/no-go. |
| `event-continuous-improvement` | Cross-edition trends. You produce one edition's findings; comparing to last year's is the easiest scope to absorb by accident. |
