# event-content-repurposing

Decides which derivative artifacts get made from already-captured event material, in what order and on what cadence. Useful for organizers whose talk recordings are sitting untouched.

## What it does

The skill starts from a published master file and works forward: which formats get made, how often they drop, under which licence, and what each speaker is asked to do with the piece cut from their own talk. It runs an interview about what exists and in what state, where the consent record lives, which sessions people actually asked about, and whether a hard date is looming. Those answers move four menus: the derivative mix, publishing latency, the rights gate, and the release plan.

The rights gate is where this earns its keep. A consent record can stop at recording and publication and never reach derivative works, and a photo opt-out on a badge may be retrievable per photo or only for the room as a whole. That is worth checking before you pick formats, because some sessions may come back restricted or off-limits. The skill never re-edits or re-publishes the master — it begins at the derivative and leaves capture and editing to `event-production`.

What you get out is published derivative artifacts plus a content inventory the next edition's campaign can schedule. Someone has to own publishing after the crew disperses: an owner with a standing weekly slot and an owner with one free afternoon are running two different plans. If the master isn't published yet, the work stops and waits.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-content-repurposing -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/event-content-repurposing/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-content-repurposing -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-content-repurposing -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/dev-event-organizer-skills event-content-repurposing
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-content-repurposing -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --path skills/event-content-repurposing
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill event-content-repurposing -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/dev-event-organizer-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/event-content-repurposing/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- decide which clips, write-ups and transcripts to make from talk recordings
- choose a release cadence: dump everything, batch it, or drip it out
- check whether a speaker's consent reaches derivative works
- sort out rights on third-party slides and attendee photos
- hand a content inventory up to the next edition's campaign

## Example prompts
- What should we do with the talk recordings after the conference?
- Draft a plan: which clips and write-ups to release from these sessions, and when
- Can we republish a talk segment if the consent record only covers recording and publication?

name: event-content-repurposing
description: Turn one edition's already-captured material into derivative published artifacts after the event - which formats get made, on what cadence, under which licence, and what speakers are asked to amplify. Covers publishing latency (dump, batched, drip, evergreen), the rights gate on third-party slide material and attendee photos, and the inventory handed up to the next edition's campaign. Use whenever asked what to do with talk recordings after a conference, how to turn an event into clips, write-ups or transcripts, when to release them, or whether footage can be republished at all. Do NOT use for capturing or editing the master recording - use samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-production - or the event's own channels - use samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-social-media.

# Event Content Repurposing

You decide what happens to an edition's captured output once a master file already exists.

- **Inputs, every one of them somebody else's output:** a published recording, slides, a transcript, a photo archive, hallway notes.
- **Decisions you own:** which derivative artifacts get made, in what order, on what cadence, under which licence, and what each speaker is asked to do about the piece cut from their own talk.
- **Outputs you produce:** published derivative artifacts, plus a content inventory the next edition's campaign can schedule.
