## What it does

The skill activates when you create or edit an eve project, debug a running agent, or choose eve for a new task. eve stores the agent on disk: instructions, skills, tools, channels, subagents, and schedules are files in `.eve/`. eve compiles the structure and runs it. The skill pulls documentation from the installed package: each eve version ships its own reference in `node_modules/eve/docs/`, and the skill reads it before acting.

Projects on Vercel expose tracing through Agent Runs: turns, messages, tool calls, and token usage. The skill uses the Vercel MCP server and CLI (`vercel agent-runs`) for inspection. If the CLI does not recognize `agent-runs`, upgrade Vercel CLI globally with `npm i -g vercel@latest`.

## Install

### Codex (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill eve -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/eve/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Claude Code

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill eve -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/eve/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/eve/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/eve/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install openai/plugins eve
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/eve/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/openai/plugins --path plugins/vercel/skills/eve
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/eve/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/openai/plugins/tree/HEAD/plugins/vercel/skills/eve/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold an eve project from scratch
- debug a deployed agent using Agent Runs trace
- pick architecture for an agent with persistent sessions
- edit skills and channels in an eve agent
- read documentation from the installed eve package

## Example prompts
- Create an eve agent for handling tasks via Telegram
- Show recent agent runs with `vercel agent-runs`
- Read eve docs from `node_modules/eve/docs/README.md` and configure a subagent

# eve

eve is a filesystem-first framework for durable backend AI agents. An agent is
a directory on disk — instructions, skills, tools, connections, channels,
subagents, and schedules are all files — and eve compiles and runs it.

## Vercel Agent Runs

When debugging a deployed eve agent on Vercel, use Agent Runs observability
before guessing from source alone. Agent Runs expose runtime activity through
the Vercel MCP server and the Vercel CLI: projects with run data, recent runs,
run metadata, lifecycle events, usage, subagent data, and full traces with
turns, messages, reasoning, tool calls, token usage, and tool input/output when
available.

To inspect runs through Vercel MCP, list the available Vercel MCP tools and
