## What it does

The skill walks through evaluating NVIDIA Cosmos Policy on the LIBERO and RoboCasa benchmarks from the public `cosmos-policy` repository. It lays out a five-step checklist: install the environment, configure headless EGL rendering, run a smoke evaluation, parse the logs, then scale to the full run across four LIBERO task suites.

Evaluation goes through the public modules `cosmos_policy.experiments.robot.libero.run_libero_eval` and `cosmos_policy.experiments.robot.robocasa.run_robocasa_eval`. Headless rendering needs `MUJOCO_GL=egl` and `PYOPENGL_PLATFORM=egl`, and dependencies install with `uv sync --extra cu128 --group libero --python 3.10`. A smoke test fits on one A40 or A100 with ~16 GB VRAM and takes 5–10 minutes.

A full LIBERO run at 50 trials takes 2–4 hours; RoboCasa across all tasks runs 4–8 hours. The skill does not train or fine-tune the model — for training from scratch it points to the official Cosmos docs. Real-robot evaluation is out of scope too; this is simulation only.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill evaluating-cosmos-policy -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill cosmos-policy -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cosmos-policy/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill cosmos-policy -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill cosmos-policy -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs cosmos-policy
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill cosmos-policy -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --path 18-multimodal/cosmos-policy
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill cosmos-policy -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs/tree/HEAD/18-multimodal/cosmos-policy/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- run a Cosmos Policy smoke eval on LIBERO in one command
- set up headless EGL rendering on a GPU cluster
- profile VLA inference latency
- parse evaluation JSON logs from the official directory
- scale evaluation across all four LIBERO task suites

## Example prompts
- run a Cosmos Policy smoke eval on libero_10 with one trial
- set up headless EGL and run the full LIBERO benchmark at 50 trials
- profile Cosmos Policy inference latency on an A100

# Cosmos Policy Evaluation

Evaluation workflows for NVIDIA Cosmos Policy on LIBERO and RoboCasa simulation environments from the public `cosmos-policy` repository. Covers blank-machine setup, headless GPU evaluation, and inference profiling.

## Quick start

Run a minimal LIBERO evaluation using the official public eval module:

```bash
uv run --extra cu128 --group libero --python 3.10 \
  python -m cosmos_policy.experiments.robot.libero.run_libero_eval \
    --config cosmos_predict2_2b_480p_libero__inference_only \
    --ckpt_path nvidia/Cosmos-Policy-LIBERO-Predict2-2B \
    --config_file cosmos_policy/config/config.py \
    --use_wrist_image True \
    --use_proprio True \
    --normalize_proprio True \
    --unnormalize_actions True \
    --dataset_stats_path nvidia/Cosmos-Policy-LIBERO-Predict2-2B/libero_dataset_statistics.json \
    --t5_text_embeddings_path nvidia/Cosmos-Policy-LIBERO-Predict2-2B/libero_t5_embeddings.pkl \
    --trained_with_image_aug True \
    --chunk_size 16 \
    --num_open_loop_steps 16 \
    --task_suite_name libero_10 \
    --num_trials_per_task 1 \
    --local_log_dir cosmos_policy/experiments/robot/libero/logs/ \
    --seed 195 \
    --randomize_seed False \
    --deterministic True \
    --run_id_note smoke \
    --ar_future_prediction False \
    --ar_value_prediction False \
    --use_jpeg_compression True \
    --flip_images True \
    --num_denoising_steps_action 5 \
## Core concepts
**What Cosmos Policy is**: NVIDIA Cosmos Policy is a vision-language-action (VLA) model that uses Cosmos Tokenizer to encode visual observations into discrete tokens, then predicts robot actions conditioned on language instructions and visual context.
