# esp32c6-touch-lcd147

A skill that gives your coding agent a reference for the Waveshare ESP32-C6-Touch-LCD-1.47: pin map, JD9853 panel, AXS5106L touch, PlatformIO setup. Most bugs on this board fail quietly.

## What it does

The skill packages board-level firmware knowledge for one specific Waveshare board. It covers the full pin table, what each pin does at reset, strapping pins, which GPIOs are actually spare, power and battery wiring, flash layout. The JD9853 172×320 panel hangs off SPI2, touch sits on I²C at 0x63, the QMI8658A IMU shares that bus at 0x6B, and the microSD card rides the same SPI2 lines as the display.

Ready-made snippets are included: `platformio.ini`, `sdkconfig.defaults`, a pin header, display bring-up, touch calibration stored in NVS, backlight PWM, battery voltage reading, IMU and TF card. There is also a project template that builds and a scaffold script. For chip-level questions the skill ships a digest of the ESP32-C6 datasheet.

The costly mistake here is picking the wrong board. Waveshare sells two 1.47-inch ESP32-C6 boards with almost the same name, and the non-touch one uses an ST7789 panel with 4 MB of flash. Pin numbers do not carry over: the screen just stays dark with no error to read. Another trap: BOOT is GPIO9 on this board, while the vendor wiki names GPIO8. And the console has to be pointed at USB-Serial-JTAG with `CONFIG_ESP_CONSOLE_USB_SERIAL_JTAG=y`, or the monitor shows nothing while the firmware runs fine.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alexex1993/mcu-skills --skill esp32c6-touch-lcd147 -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alexex1993/mcu-skills --skill esp32c6-touch-lcd147 -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alexex1993/mcu-skills --skill esp32c6-touch-lcd147 -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alexex1993/mcu-skills esp32c6-touch-lcd147
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alexex1993/mcu-skills --skill esp32c6-touch-lcd147 -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alexex1993/mcu-skills --path skills/esp32/esp32c6-touch-lcd147
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/esp32c6-touch-lcd147/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alexex1993/mcu-skills --skill esp32c6-touch-lcd147 -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- assign pins so display, touch, IMU and the SD card do not collide
- bring up a JD9853 panel that ESP-IDF has no driver for
- trace a dark screen or a silent serial monitor back to its cause
- calibrate touch coordinates after rotating the display
- fit LVGL into memory on a chip without PSRAM

## Example prompts
- Write the build config and `sdkconfig.defaults` for this board, with the console on USB-Serial-JTAG
- PlatformIO shows nothing in the monitor even though flashing works. Walk me through the fix using this skill
- Touch reports the wrong spot after a 90-degree rotation, show me the calibration recipe

description: Firmware development for the Waveshare ESP32-C6-Touch-LCD-1.47 board (ESP32-C6FH8, QFN32, 8 MB flash, SKU 31203 / 31201-M) — its 1.47" 172x320 JD9853 IPS panel, AXS5106L capacitive touch controller on I2C 0x63, QMI8658A IMU on I2C 0x6B, microSD/TF slot on the shared SPI2 bus, ETA6098 battery charger with VBAT sensing, USB-Serial-JTAG console, Wi-Fi 6/BLE/802.15.4 radio, and the ESP-IDF + PlatformIO setup around them. Use when working on this board: project setup, platformio.ini and sdkconfig, pin mapping and strapping pins, JD9853 bring-up, touch coordinates and calibration, LVGL memory budgeting, backlight PWM, TF card on the shared bus, battery voltage, flashing over Type-C, or debugging why something on the board does not work. This is NOT the non-touch ESP32-C6-LCD-1.47 (ST7789, 4 MB) — the two share a name and almost no pins.
