## What it does

The skill walks the agent through six steps: install dependencies, write the ESLint config, configure Prettier, wire the two together, add lint and format scripts, then add a pre-commit check. It ships templates for `eslint.config.mjs` using flat config (ESLint v9+) and a legacy `.eslintrc.json`. React gets `eslint-plugin-react`, `react-hooks` and `react-refresh`; imports get `eslint-plugin-import` with grouped ordering and a duplicate check.

Prettier lives in `.prettierrc`: semicolons on, single quotes, print width 100, `lf` line endings. A `.prettierignore` covers `node_modules`, `dist`, `build`, `.next`, `coverage` and lock files. `eslint-config-prettier` turns off the rules that clash with formatting, and it sits last in the array — put it anywhere else and lint and Prettier will fight over the same lines.

The TypeScript block points at `project: './tsconfig.json'`. No such file, or one in a different location, and the type-aware rules stay silent. Test files get their own block where `any` and non-null assertions are allowed.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill eslint-prettier-config -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/eslint-prettier-config/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/eslint-prettier-config/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill eslint-prettier-config -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/eslint-prettier-config/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill eslint-prettier-config -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/eslint-prettier-config/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install patricio0312rev/skills eslint-prettier-config
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/eslint-prettier-config/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill eslint-prettier-config -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/patricio0312rev/skills --path foundation/eslint-prettier-config
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/eslint-prettier-config/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill eslint-prettier-config -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- set up ESLint from scratch in a TypeScript and React project
- stop ESLint and Prettier rules from conflicting
- enforce import ordering and catch duplicate imports
- run lint and format checks before every commit
- migrate a project from `.eslintrc` to flat config

## Example prompts
- Set up ESLint and Prettier for this TypeScript and React project
- Migrate the ESLint config to flat config for v9
- Add a pre-commit hook that runs lint and formatting

# ESLint & Prettier Configuration

Setup consistent code quality and formatting with ESLint and Prettier.

## Core Workflow

1. **Install dependencies**: ESLint, Prettier, plugins
2. **Configure ESLint**: Rules and extends
3. **Configure Prettier**: Formatting options
4. **Integrate tools**: ESLint + Prettier
5. **Setup scripts**: Lint and format commands
6. **Add hooks**: Pre-commit validation
