# employee-performance-analytics-hr

This skill turns an employee CSV into department KPIs, per-person efficiency scores and charts. Useful when you need to read a workforce export without building pivot tables by hand.

## What it does

The pipeline runs in four steps: load the CSV into SQLite, run SQL queries for the metrics, analyse with Python, export reports and charts. Three views do the work. `department_kpis` gives average rating, task totals and absence rate per department. `employee_summary` aggregates each person's tasks, hours and efficiency. `daily_productivity` tracks tasks, hours and rating by day and department. Output lands in `outputs/` as CSV files plus a `charts/` folder.

Your CSV needs the columns `employee_id`, `name`, `department`, `role`, `date`, `tasks_completed`, `hours_worked`, `rating`, `projects`, `absences`. The loader `src/create_db.py` asserts on the required ones and stops if any is missing, so an export from another system has to be reshaped first. Then `src/analyze_performance.py` takes the database, `src/queries.sql` and an output directory.

Dependencies come from `requirements.txt`: pandas, matplotlib, seaborn, numpy. SQLite is built into Python, so it needs no separate install. Charts are drawn with seaborn — skip it and the SQL metrics still compute, but the visualisations won't render.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill employee-performance-analytics-hr -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill employee-performance-analytics-hr -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill employee-performance-analytics-hr -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/data-skills employee-performance-analytics-hr
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill employee-performance-analytics-hr -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/data-skills --path skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/employee-performance-analytics-hr/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill employee-performance-analytics-hr -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- compute average rating and task totals per department
- spot high-efficiency employees with few absences
- track daily productivity by department
- export CSV reports and charts from one command
- validate the input CSV schema before loading

## Example prompts
- load employees.csv into SQLite and compute department KPIs
- plot average rating by department from hr.db
- build the employee efficiency summary and save it to outputs
