## What it does

This skill structures employee-generated content (EGC) programs for social channels, prioritizing LinkedIn. The agent looks for a root `contextus.md` file first. If it is missing, the skill asks for project goals, staff roles, and target networks directly. It produces a rollout plan covering formats like behind-the-scenes, short video demos, and thought leadership pieces.

The framework groups employees into tiers, treating active team members like internal influencers. Mandatory quotas are explicitly avoided. Because volunteer advocacy yields better engagement, the strategy relies on recognition, training, and leaderboards instead of forced participation.

For drafting specific LinkedIn updates, the workflow relies on the companion `linkedin-posts` skill. Relying on this module alone will not write individual social copy. It governs program structure, FTC/ASA disclosures, and approval workflows.

## Requirements
- Works with: LinkedIn

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill employee-generated-content -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/employee-generated-content/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill employee-generated-content -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill employee-generated-content -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install kostja94/marketing-skills employee-generated-content
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill employee-generated-content -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/kostja94/marketing-skills --path skills/channels/owned/employee-generated-content
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill employee-generated-content -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/kostja94/marketing-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/channels/owned/employee-generated-content/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- plan an employee advocacy program for SaaS
- segment staff into internal influencer tiers
- create content brief templates with FTC and ASA disclosures
- set up approval workflows without mandatory quotas

## Example prompts
- Help us plan an EGC program for our B2B SaaS team on LinkedIn
- Create an employee advocacy strategy that keeps participation voluntary

# Channels: EGC (Employee-Generated Content)

Guides EGC and employee advocacy strategy for AI/SaaS products. EGC is content created by employees (social posts, videos, blogs, testimonials) that reflects authentic workplace and product insights. Employee-shared content generates ~8x more engagement than brand posts; LinkedIn employee posts reach ~561% more than brand content.

**When invoking**: On **first use**, if helpful, open with 1-2 sentences on what this skill covers and why it matters, then provide the main output. On **subsequent use** or when the user asks to skip, go directly to the main output.

## Initial Assessment

**Project context:** Read root `contextus.md` when present and load only the modules relevant to this task. Without Contextus, use available project material or user-provided facts and ask for missing information; do not create a parallel context system.

Identify:
1. **Goal**: Brand trust, thought leadership, recruitment, or conversion
2. **Platform**: LinkedIn (B2B primary), X, Instagram, TikTok
3. **Employee base**: Size, roles, existing social presence

## EGC vs. UGC vs. Creator Program

| Dimension | EGC | UGC | Creator Program |
|-----------|-----|-----|-----------------|
| **Source** | Employees | Customers | External creators |
| **Trust** | Company experts (66% vs 47% for ads) | Peer reviews | Influencer reach |
| **Cost** | Low; leverage workforce | Incentives, curation | Credits, payment |
| **Best for** | B2B, SaaS, professional services | Social proof, reviews | Content scale, tutorials |

## Why EGC Works

- **Algorithm favor**: Social platforms prioritize personal accounts over brand pages
- **Authenticity**: 92% trust recommendations from individuals over branded content; 81% need to trust before buying
- **B2B fit**: LinkedIn is primary; employees share industry expertise and product insights
- **Results**: 27% engagement increase, 19% sales increase in first year; 24% higher conversion vs traditional content
