## What it does

The skill evaluates raw email text against six categories: Action Required, FYI, Waiting, Delegated, Archive, and Delete. For single messages or batches, it assigns priorities ranging from Urgent down to Low. The resulting output formats deadlines and suggested response windows into clean Markdown summaries.

It includes pattern checks for spam and phishing, screening sender domains against display names and flagging aggressive urgency triggers. You can also define custom rules, such as treating VIP clients as immediate priorities or auto-delegating IT queries.

This skill cannot access your mailbox directly via IMAP or external APIs. It operates purely on text. You have to feed email content directly into the prompt, meaning thread context remains limited to what you paste.

## Install

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill email-classifier -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill email-classifier -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/email-classifier/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- categorize raw email text by urgency and required follow-up
- filter out newsletters and promotional spam from critical requests
- generate structured triage summaries with action items and deadlines
- spot phishing indicators like mismatched sender domains and coercive urgency

## Example prompts
- Classify this email: [paste email content]
- Classify these emails and organize by priority: 1. [Email 1] 2. [Email 2]
- Classify my emails. Treat anything from @client.com as high priority
