## What it does

The skill designs the transition ladder for a product launch: waitlist, concept, alpha, beta, and general availability. Each phase gets clear opt-in rules and explicit graduation criteria labeled as Measured, User-provided, or Estimated. It follows the PostHog state-machine pattern where an explicit user opt-out overrides automated targeting rules, requiring explicit confirmation before including opted-out users in general release.

Beyond the stages, it defines cohort gating, invite throttling schedules, tester recruitment, and referral mechanics with anti-abuse controls. TestFlight and Google Play Console restrictions are factored in whenever the release targets mobile platforms.

Outputs are saved under `memory/launch/early-access-designer/` and submitted as proposals to `memory/events/launches.ndjson` using `registry-events.py`. The skill deliberately leaves audience capture to `list-growth-designer` and canonical state tracking to `launch-registry`, avoiding duplicate sources of truth.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill early-access-designer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/early-access-designer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/early-access-designer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill early-access-designer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/early-access-designer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill early-access-designer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/early-access-designer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills early-access-designer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/early-access-designer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill early-access-designer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path launch/research/early-access-designer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/early-access-designer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill early-access-designer -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- Design an access ladder from initial waitlist to general availability
- Establish quantified graduation criteria for private and public betas
- Configure cohort gating and throttle invite rollout pace
- Define tester feedback workflows to prepare launch-day social proof

## Example prompts
- Design an early access program for our analytics app. Current stage: waitlist. Goal: GA by autumn.
- Define graduation criteria for our beta using current tester activation data.
- Set up cohort gating and referral invite rules for our pending waitlist.
