# dynamic-content-personalizer

Adds merge-tag maps with safe fallbacks and conditional blocks to email copy. Prevents empty fields like "Hi ," and filters out exposed PII.

## What it does

The skill processes ready-made email copy alongside segment mappings or export columns to create a personalization specification. Every merge tag binds directly to an export column and receives a safe fallback value. It also outlines per-segment `if/elseif/else` conditional content blocks, requiring a default catch-all branch.

Built-in validation checks guard against rendering issues. The agent confirms no field can output blank spaces or dangling punctuation like `"Hi ,"`. It also checks a PII guard list to prevent sensitive subscriber attributes from appearing in the final rendered email. It does not write base creative copy.

Subscriber exports are treated as untrusted data, meaning you should never feed raw personal records into the prompt. The skill works strictly from column names and fill rates. If an export column has low fill rates, defining an explicit fallback is a mandatory step before sending.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill dynamic-content-personalizer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill dynamic-content-personalizer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill dynamic-content-personalizer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills dynamic-content-personalizer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill dynamic-content-personalizer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path email/engage/dynamic-content-personalizer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/dynamic-content-personalizer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill dynamic-content-personalizer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- map merge tags to database export columns with rendered fallback values
- configure if/elseif/else conditional content blocks for specific segments
- audit email templates to prevent broken punctuation and empty greetings
- restrict sensitive subscriber PII attributes from rendering in message bodies

## Example prompts
- Add merge tags with fallbacks to this email [paste creative]; export columns are first_name, city, last_product. Promo mode.
- Set up conditional blocks: champions get the loyalty offer, at-risk get the win-back offer, everyone else the base offer. Segment map attached.
- Audit this template for fallback safety and PII exposure before we send: [paste template with {{merge_tags}}]
