## What it does

This skill manages baseline Salesforce configurations across your development pipeline using the `sf` CLI version 2.0.0 or higher. An org shape captures features, edition, limits, and Metadata API preferences. It strips out business data and metadata schemas completely.

The agent executes `sf org create shape`, `sf org list shape`, and `sf org delete shape` using the Bash tool with the `--json` flag. It writes unmodified JSON results directly into files such as `create-shape-result.json`. If you need inactive or superseded shapes, it runs a SOQL query directly against the `ShapeRepresentation` object.

Shape operations target the source org directly rather than a Dev Hub. Without CRUD permissions on `ShapeRepresentation`, shape creation aborts immediately with `NoCrudAccessCreateShape`. The source org must also have Org Shape for Scratch Orgs enabled in Setup.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-org-shape-manage -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-org-shape-manage -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-org-shape-manage -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills dx-org-shape-manage
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-org-shape-manage -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/dx-org-shape-manage
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-org-shape-manage -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/dx-org-shape-manage/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- capture edition, limits, and feature flags into a reusable org shape
- list active and in-progress org shapes across authenticated environments
- retrieve superseded or inactive shape history using SOQL queries
- delete existing shape records for a designated source org

## Example prompts
- Create an org shape for the org with alias staging-sandbox
- List all active org shapes and their current status
- Show all inactive shape records for source org prod-backup

# dx-org-shape-manage

Coordinates the full lifecycle of Salesforce org shapes — **create**, **list**, and **delete** — via `sf org create shape`, `sf org list shape`, and `sf org delete shape`. An org shape captures the baseline setup of a source org (features, limits, edition, and Metadata API settings) **without** its data or metadata.

## Tool Restrictions

**Use ONLY the Bash tool** to execute the `sf org ... shape` commands. Do NOT use MCP tools — ignore them completely.

**Output artifacts for eval/testing:** ALWAYS write the command's complete JSON response to a file when an output directory is available. Do NOT ask the user what file to write — this skill defines the filenames. After executing each command: (1) if the user specified an output path (e.g. "write all generated files into folder X"), write there immediately; (2) otherwise run `[ -d force-app/main/adk-eval-output/ ] && echo 'force-app/main/adk-eval-output'` to detect the eval directory; (3) write the command's full, unmodified JSON response (including the `status`/`result`/`warnings` wrapper) to `<output-dir>/<filename>` using these filenames: `create-shape-result.json` for shape creation, `list-shapes-result.json` for listing shapes, `list-shapes-inactive-result.json` for the inactive-shapes SOQL query, or `delete-shapes-result.json` for shape deletion. This is the generated output — write it without asking. Do NOT say "no files to generate" for these operations; the JSON result IS the output artifact.
