## What it does

The skill configures Salesforce Code Analyzer across project repositories. Because the analyzer works out of the box with built-in defaults, this skill creates `code-analyzer.yml` only when you ask for specific overrides. It adjusts engine settings, ignores file paths, changes rule severities, and defines violation suppressions.

To work properly, the environment requires `sf` CLI 2.0.0 or higher, Java 11.0.0 or higher, Node.js 18.0.0 or higher, npm 9.0.0 or higher, Python 3.10.0 or higher, and curl 7.0.0 or higher. The skill executes terminal commands and edits config files directly. Searching for binaries with `which` or `find` is forbidden.

It does not run code scans. If you need to execute scans or inspect violation outputs, use the companion skill `dx-code-analyzer-run`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-code-analyzer-configure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-code-analyzer-configure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-code-analyzer-configure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills dx-code-analyzer-configure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-code-analyzer-configure -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill dx-code-analyzer-configure -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/dx-code-analyzer-configure/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- verify prerequisites like Java, Node.js, Python, and the sf CLI
- generate and update project settings in code-analyzer.yml
- disable specific scanning engines or adjust rule severity levels
- configure automated scan steps for GitHub Actions or Jenkins

## Example prompts
- Check prerequisites and set up Code Analyzer in this project
- Exclude test files and increase SFGE memory in code-analyzer.yml
- Add a Code Analyzer quality gate to our GitHub Actions workflow

# Configuring Code Analyzer Skill

## Overview

> **Ecosystem:** This skill is part of a 3-skill Code Analyzer suite — `dx-code-analyzer-run` (scans & results) · `dx-code-analyzer-configure` (setup, config, CI/CD) · `dx-code-analyzer-custom-rule-create` (custom rule authoring).

This skill manages the `code-analyzer.yml` configuration file — the single source of truth for how Code Analyzer behaves in a project. All customization (engines, rules, ignores, suppressions) is done by creating or editing this file. If the file doesn't exist, this skill creates it in the current working directory.

---

## Scope

**In scope:**
- Checking prerequisites (sf CLI, Java, Node.js, Python, org auth)
- Installing/updating the Code Analyzer plugin
- Creating `code-analyzer.yml` if it doesn't exist
- Editing `code-analyzer.yml` for all configuration changes
- Engine settings, rule overrides, ignore patterns, suppressions
- CI/CD pipeline setup (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
- Environment validation and troubleshooting

**Out of scope:**
- Running scans → use `dx-code-analyzer-run` skill
- Fixing violations, explaining rules, suppression management → use `dx-code-analyzer-run` skill
