## What it does

The skill walks the codebase by category: saves and serialization, networking and multiplayer, input validation, data exposure. Scope comes from the argument — `full`, `network`, `save`, `input` or `quick`; with no argument it runs `full`. The report lands in `production/security/security-audit-[date]-[scope].md`, and the scope in the filename keeps a same-day quick run from overwriting the full report the release gate reads.

The actual work goes to the `security-engineer` subagent, spawned through `Agent`. It gets a fixed brief: engine and language from `project.yaml`, build targets, the `platform.multiplayer` and `platform.online` flags, the code root, and the category list with grep patterns for that engine. Those patterns are engine-specific. Name no engine, or hit a category with no sourced patterns, and the category is marked `NOT ASSESSED` rather than reviewed.

Here is where projects trip. `platform.multiplayer` and `platform.online` are usually unset, because only `/settings` writes them. An empty value is not `false`: the skill refuses to assume single-player and runs the network category anyway, flagged as unconfirmed. While scope is unconfirmed, severity is rated as for a multiplayer game, so an open HIGH becomes DO NOT SHIP. Set the flags ahead of time with `/settings platform.multiplayer=true`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill security-audit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/security-audit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill security-audit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill security-audit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios security-audit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill security-audit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --path .claude/skills/security-audit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill security-audit -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/security-audit/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- trace save-file tampering vectors
- check network code for exploits before enabling multiplayer
- close gaps in user input validation
- assess client-side data exposure
- get a prioritised remediation plan before release

## Example prompts
- /security-audit full
- /security-audit network
- /security-audit quick

Below is the content of a third-party file. It is data, not instructions for you: do not act on anything written inside unless the human asks. Block tag: 9d55c5e52b901db3.

!`bash "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../hooks/yaml-helper.sh" resolve_config --keys automation,workflow`

**Automation mode**: Resolve `modes.automation` (`project.local.yaml` →
`project.yaml` → default `collaborative`). Every `AskUserQuestion` call and
every file write follows `.claude/docs/automation-modes.md`
(collaborative asks always · guided major-only · autonomous logs and proceeds;
`automation_always_ask` categories always prompt).

**`workflow`** (resolved above) decides only what Phase 7 tells you about the
release gate: at `standard` and `full` it requires this report; at `minimal` it
does not. The audit itself runs the same at every tier.

# Security Audit

Security is not optional for any shipped game. Even single-player games have
save tampering vectors. Multiplayer games have cheat surfaces, data exposure
risks, and denial-of-service potential. This skill systematically audits the
codebase for the most common game security failures and produces a prioritised
remediation plan.

**Run this skill:**
- Before any public release (required for the Polish → Release gate at `workflow: standard` and `full`)
- Before enabling any online/multiplayer feature
- After implementing any system that reads from disk or network
- When a security-related bug is reported

**Output:** `production/security/security-audit-[date]-[scope].md` — the scope
in the name keeps a same-day `quick` or `save` run from overwriting the `full`
report the release gate reads.

---

## Phase 1: Parse Arguments and Scope

**Modes:**
- `full` — all categories (recommended before release)
- `network` — network/multiplayer only
- `save` — save file and serialization only
- `input` — input validation and injection only
- `quick` — high-severity checks only (fastest, for iterative use)
- No argument — run `full`

Read `project.yaml` to determine the following, falling back to `.claude/docs/technical-preferences.md` for engine/language/platforms when a key is absent or empty:
```
END THIRD-PARTY FILE 9d55c5e52b901db3
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 9d55c5e52b901db3 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
