## What it does

The skill hands the agent ready patterns for compose files. It walks through the `services`, `networks`, `volumes`, `configs` and `secrets` sections, shows a service built from an existing image and one built from a `Dockerfile`, and covers dependencies declared with `depends_on` plus the `service_healthy` and `service_started` conditions.

Multi-container setups get their own section. A frontend, backend and database example shows ports, environment variables, volumes and networks per service, with the backend waiting on the database health check. Advanced options are there too: `command`, `working_dir`, `user`, `env_file`, resource limits and logging settings.

The examples target Compose file version 3.8 and images such as `postgres:15-alpine` or `redis:alpine`. Running a different compose schema, or moving the same stack to Kubernetes, means rewriting the samples yourself.

## Requirements
- Works with: Docker

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill docker-compose-orchestration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill docker-compose-orchestration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill docker-compose-orchestration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace docker-compose-orchestration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill docker-compose-orchestration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --path plugins/luxor-devops-suite/skills/docker-compose-orchestration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/docker-compose-orchestration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill docker-compose-orchestration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- write a compose file for a frontend, an API and a database
- set startup order with a health check
- move environment variables into `env_file`
- attach persistent storage through named volumes
- split services across separate networks

## Example prompts
- Write a compose file with separate services for the frontend, backend and PostgreSQL
- Add a health check to the database service and start the API only once it passes
- Create a named volume for PostgreSQL data and mount it in the database service
