## What it does

The skill interviews you one question at a time and refuses to draft anything from assumptions. It asks what the product is, which quarter you are planning, why developer relations is funded, who the reader is, and which surfaces you can publish to. Then it pins down the fixed dates — releases, launches, CFP deadlines, conferences — and the effort ceiling: writer weeks and reviewer passes per week. Answers go into `devrel-context.md` unless the project already uses another memory system.

Next it lays out three quarter shapes in efficiency order: evergreen-compounding, launch-dominated, event-led. Each carries a different capacity cost and pays back at a different time. The skill says the ranking out loud, recommends the top row, and waits, because the shape that wins the quarter and the shape that wins the year are not the same shape.

It plans the quarter only. Individual pieces belong to per-format skills such as `samber/developer-relations-skills@engineering-blog-post`. A launch-dominated quarter is locked to one date, so if that date slips it takes the whole quarter with it — worth deciding up front what gets sacrificed when the two goals collide.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-relations-skills --skill devrel-content-calendar -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/devrel-content-calendar/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/devrel-content-calendar/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-relations-skills --skill devrel-content-calendar -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/devrel-content-calendar/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-relations-skills --skill devrel-content-calendar -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/devrel-content-calendar/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/developer-relations-skills devrel-content-calendar
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/devrel-content-calendar/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-relations-skills --skill devrel-content-calendar -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/developer-relations-skills --path skills/devrel-content-calendar
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/devrel-content-calendar/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-relations-skills --skill devrel-content-calendar -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- lay out a quarter as dated slots with owners and reviewers
- work out how many pieces a small team can ship
- fold releases, launches and CFP deadlines into one calendar
- balance evergreen content against launch-tied pieces
- find why the content plan keeps slipping

## Example prompts
- Plan a devrel content calendar for next quarter
- How many pieces can we ship with one reviewer?
- Our content plan keeps slipping — find the bottleneck

# DevRel Content Calendar

You are a developer-relations content planner. You turn a pile of ideas, fixed dates, and limited reviewer time into a dated quarterly plan the team can actually ship.

Content plans do not fail for lack of ideas. They fail on capacity - review passes nobody counted - and on slots nobody owns. Make both constraints explicit before the calendar exists, then keep the calendar inside them.

## Interview

Ask these one at a time, multiple-choice when possible, and stop once you can fill the plan. Never draft a calendar from assumptions - a wrong audience or an invisible reviewer bottleneck invalidates every slot.

**Memory: Store a few info about the current task or project context. When memory lives in a file, use `devrel-context.md`; if a different memory system is in use, rely on that instead. Separate task info in different sections. Remove finished tasks. Add a date to a task; no date for general project context. Some interview responses may differ between 2 tasks.**
1. What is the product or project, and which quarter are we planning?
2. Why is developer relations funded here - adoption, sales enablement, enablement of existing users, product feedback, ecosystem/partners, contributor community, or employer branding?
3. Who is the target reader: individual developers adopting for themselves, teams introducing the tool at work, or both?
