## What it does

The skill divides suppliers into four risk tiers: critical, high, medium, and low. Each tier sets explicit data access limits and contract terms. Critical providers require an annual review. That review demands SOC 2 Type II records and penetration test results.

A security questionnaire forms the operational base. It spans six sections, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management. For high-risk integrations, the skill sets a 72-hour incident notification window in the DPA. Without verified audit documents, onboarding creates non-compliance risks during audits.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill vendor-management -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/vendor-management/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/vendor-management/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill vendor-management -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/vendor-management/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill vendor-management -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/vendor-management/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills vendor-management
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/vendor-management/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill vendor-management -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --path compliance/governance/vendor-management
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/vendor-management/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill vendor-management -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- categorize external suppliers into four risk tiers
- draft security requirements for vendor DPA and BAA contracts
- prepare security questionnaires for SOC 2 and ISO 27001 reviews
- audit third-party sub-processors and data destruction commitments

## Example prompts
- Assess the risk tier and contract requirements for a new cloud infrastructure provider
- Generate a security questionnaire covering data protection and incident response
- Prepare vendor management compliance evidence for an upcoming SOC 2 audit

# Vendor Management

Implement a vendor risk management program covering vendor assessment questionnaires, risk scoring, contract tracking, SLA monitoring, and ongoing oversight for compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and regulatory frameworks.

## When to Use

- Onboarding new vendors that will access company data or systems
- Conducting annual vendor risk assessments and reassessments
- Negotiating security requirements in vendor contracts
- Monitoring vendor SLA compliance and security posture
- Preparing vendor management evidence for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits

## Vendor Risk Tiering

```yaml
vendor_risk_tiers:
  critical:
    criteria:
      - Processes or stores sensitive/regulated data (PII, PHI, PCI)
      - Single point of failure (no alternative vendor)
      - Has privileged access to production systems
      - Handles authentication or security-critical functions
    assessment_requirements:
      - Full security questionnaire (SIG or custom)
      - SOC 2 Type II report review (or equivalent)
      - Penetration test results review
      - On-site or virtual security assessment (optional)
      - Business continuity and DR plan review
    review_frequency: Annual
    contract_requirements:
      - Data processing agreement (DPA)
      - Business associate agreement (BAA) if PHI
      - Security SLA with breach notification timeline
      - Right to audit clause
      - Cyber insurance requirements
    examples:
      - Cloud infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
      - Identity providers (Okta, Azure AD)
      - Payment processors (Stripe, Adyen)
      - Primary database or CRM SaaS
  high:
    criteria:
      - Accesses significant company data (internal or confidential)
      - Integrates with production systems via API
      - Processes customer-facing transactions
      - Substitution would cause significant business disruption
    assessment_requirements:
      - Security questionnaire
      - SOC 2 report review (Type I or Type II)
