## What it does

The skill activates when you touch pipelines, Dockerfiles, Kubernetes manifests or Terraform. It walks through CI/CD stages from lint and unit tests to image build, vulnerability scanning and deploy, plus rollout strategies: rolling, blue-green and canary. Container material covers multi-stage builds, pod security context and secret syncing through the External Secrets Operator.

How it is put together: the main file points at references the agent reads on demand — `references/docker-patterns.md`, `references/deployment-strategies.md`, `rules/railway-deployment.md` and OrchestKit house rules. Vendor mechanics are not restated. For GitHub Actions, Kubernetes probes and Helm the skill sends you to the official docs and keeps only its own thresholds and ordering. Its allowed tools are `Read`, `Glob`, `Grep`, `WebFetch` and `WebSearch`, so it reads rather than edits your files.

On startup it runs `command -v docker`. No Docker means container operations will fail, and the skill says so. With `disableSkillShellExecution` enabled that check is skipped, so verify it yourself with `docker --version`. Claude compatibility is stated as 2.1.277 and above.

## Requirements
- Works with: Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill devops-deployment -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/devops-deployment/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill devops-deployment -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill devops-deployment -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yonatangross/orchestkit devops-deployment
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill devops-deployment -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yonatangross/orchestkit --path src/skills/devops-deployment
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill devops-deployment -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/yonatangross/orchestkit/tree/HEAD/src/skills/devops-deployment/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a GitHub Actions pipeline with lint, tests and vulnerability scanning
- shrink a Docker image with a multi-stage build
- write a Kubernetes deployment with rolling updates and no downtime
- pick between blue-green and canary for one service
- sync secrets from a cloud secret store

## Example prompts
- set up a CI/CD pipeline for this repo with tests and an image build
- rewrite this Dockerfile as a multi-stage build and add a healthcheck
- compare rolling and canary for our service and draft the manifest

# DevOps & Deployment Skill

Comprehensive frameworks for CI/CD pipelines, containerization, deployment strategies, and infrastructure automation.

> **Note:** If `disableSkillShellExecution` is enabled (CC 2.1.91), the Docker install check won't run. Verify Docker is available for container operations: `docker --version`.

## Overview

- Setting up CI/CD pipelines
- Containerizing applications
- Deploying to Kubernetes or cloud platforms
- Implementing GitOps workflows
- Managing infrastructure as code
- Planning release strategies

## Pipeline Architecture

│ Code     │─>│ Build    │─>│ Test     │─>│ Deploy   │

```
## Key Concepts
### CI/CD Pipeline Stages
1. **Lint & Type Check** - Code quality gates
2. **Unit Tests** - Test coverage with reporting
3. **Security Scan** - npm audit + Trivy vulnerability scanner
4. **Build & Push** - Docker image to container registry
5. **Deploy Staging** - Environment-gated deployment
6. **Deploy Production** - Manual approval or automated
