## What it does

The skill runs Dembrandt in headless Chromium to inspect computed CSS and assemble a structured design profile. It can capture a confidence-scored palette, typography, spacing, corner radii, borders, shadows, and interactive component styles. Export options include W3C DTCG tokens and `DESIGN.md`; observed values can also become Tailwind CSS.

You can crawl multiple pages or inspect a mobile viewport and dark mode. The skill requires `dembrandt>=0.39.0`, and `npx` fetches the package on its first run. For a site behind authentication, provide a prepared cookie file; the agent cannot sign in by itself.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --skill extract-design -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/extract-design/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/extract-design/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --skill extract-design -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/extract-design/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --skill extract-design -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/extract-design/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install dembrandt/dembrandt-skills extract-design
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/extract-design/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --skill extract-design -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --path skills/extract-design
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/extract-design/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add dembrandt/dembrandt-skills --skill extract-design -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- extract a site's colors and type styles
- merge design tokens from multiple pages
- create a `DESIGN.md` from a live site
- generate Tailwind CSS from observed styles

## Example prompts
- Extract the design tokens from this site and export them in W3C DTCG format.
- Inspect this site's colors and fonts, then create a `DESIGN.md`.
- Gather styles across several pages and generate a Tailwind theme.

# Extract Design — Dembrandt

Dembrandt runs a headless Chromium browser against any URL, walks up to thousands of DOM elements, reads computed CSS, and returns a structured design system: colors with confidence scoring, typography styles, spacing scale, border radius, borders, shadows, and interactive component styles.

## How to Run

```bash
# Zero-install — npx fetches the package on first run (lowest friction)
npx -y dembrandt https://dembrandt.com
# Or install once (global), then call `dembrandt` directly
npm i -g dembrandt
