## What it does

The skill works from what you already have on an account: contacts with titles, call notes or transcripts, email and meeting activity, CRM contact-role fields. It names the likely champion, the economic buyer and the blockers, then states what is still unproven and attaches the next action that would prove or disprove it.

Every role assignment carries a confidence label: `verified`, `second-hand`, `vendor-data` or `inference`. Titles are not treated as proof on their own, because the grading follows observed behaviour. Contacts with contradictory or empty evidence land in "unknown" instead of a guess. Before mapping, the skill interviews you one question per message: B2B or a considered household purchase, deal size and segment, what contact data exists, deal stage, and which sales methodology the team runs. If the product touches customer data, it assumes a security reviewer exists even if nobody has appeared yet.

Role definitions come from MEDDICC (champion, economic buyer) and Challenger (Mobilizer, Blocker) as named sources. The skill never scores the deal against an acronym — that is what `mbfinotti/sales-skills@meddpicc-scorecard` does, and a general risk pass over notes belongs to `mbfinotti/sales-skills@deal-red-flags`. Treat the output as a living artifact: re-walk it at every stage change, new stakeholder appearance or champion job-change signal.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/sales-skills --skill deal-champion-mapping -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/deal-champion-mapping/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/sales-skills --skill deal-champion-mapping -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/sales-skills --skill deal-champion-mapping -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mbfinotti/sales-skills deal-champion-mapping
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/sales-skills --skill deal-champion-mapping -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mbfinotti/sales-skills --path skills/deal-champion-mapping
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/sales-skills --skill deal-champion-mapping -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mbfinotti/sales-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/deal-champion-mapping/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- name the likely champion from observed behaviour instead of job title
- separate the economic buyer from whoever talks most on calls
- find blocking functions that have not appeared on any call yet
- flag single-threading and show where contact coverage is thin
- record which roles stay unproven and assign an action to test each one

## Example prompts
- Build a stakeholder map for the Acme deal — here are the contacts and my call notes
- Who actually decides here? Check whether this deal is single-threaded
- Sort these people into champion, economic buyer and blockers with confidence levels

description: Builds an evidence-graded stakeholder map for one active deal from titles, call notes, email and meeting activity, and CRM contact roles, naming the likely champion, economic buyer, and blockers, each with a confidence level tied to observed behaviour rather than title. Covers B2B buying committees and high-consideration B2C households. Use whenever the user mentions a champion, economic buyer, power map, deal org chart, multi-threading, single-threaded risk, or "who actually decides", even without the word stakeholder. Do NOT use for qualification scoring (mbfinotti/sales-skills@meddpicc-scorecard) or scanning notes for general risk (mbfinotti/sales-skills@deal-red-flags).

# Champion Mapping

Turn what is already known about an account - contact list with titles, call notes, email and meeting activity, CRM contact roles - into a stakeholder map. The map:

- Names the likely champion, the economic buyer, and the blockers or detractors.
- Grades every assignment by the strength of its evidence.
- States what is still unproven.
- Attaches the next concrete action that proves or disproves it.

The role definitions come from MEDDICC (champion, economic buyer) and Challenger (Mobilizer, Blocker) as named sources; this skill identifies and tests the people - it never scores the deal against any acronym.

Confidence labels used throughout:

- **verified** - confirmed at a named source.
- **second-hand** - documented only via another publisher.
- **vendor-data** - a vendor's own correlational platform dataset, never independently replicated.
- **inference** - this skill's own reasoning rather than a cited claim.

No vendor correlation here is causal, ever.

## Interview

Ask before mapping. One question per message; offer multiple-choice answers when possible; skip anything the user's data already answers.

- B2B, or high-consideration B2C? (B2C here means considered household purchases - remodeling, solar, private school, financial products - not impulse retail.)
```
