# dcf-valuation

Builds a discounted cash flow model: FCF projections, WACC, terminal value and a sensitivity grid. Useful when you need a per-share value for a company.

## What it does

The skill walks the valuation in steps. You hand over historical financials for 3–5 years (revenue, EBITDA, capex, D&A), shares outstanding and, if you want a comparison, the current stock price. Then you set the assumptions: revenue growth, EBITDA margin path, capex as a share of revenue, working capital changes, terminal growth and the discount rate. Leave them blank and it falls back to industry defaults.

Three model types are on offer: standard (five years plus terminal value), two-stage (high growth then stable) and three-stage (growth, transition, maturity). WACC comes out of CAPM, terminal value from either the Gordon Growth model or an exit multiple. The output is a markdown report: summary with value per share and upside, assumption tables, UFCF projections, the valuation build-up and a WACC-versus-terminal-growth sensitivity grid.

It needs the `office-mcp` MCP server with `read_xlsx`, `create_xlsx`, `apply_formula` and `create_chart` — without those tools the Excel files and charts never get built. The skill states plainly that it gives no investment recommendations and does not replace due diligence, and that it cannot guarantee projection accuracy. Worth checking the assumptions by hand before the model goes to anyone else.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill dcf-valuation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/dcf-valuation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill dcf-valuation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill dcf-valuation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills dcf-valuation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill dcf-valuation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path dcf-valuation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill dcf-valuation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/dcf-valuation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- value a share from projected free cash flows
- compute WACC through CAPM with beta and risk premium
- compare Gordon Growth and exit multiple terminal values
- stress-test the price against discount rate and terminal growth
- write up a company valuation in markdown tables

## Example prompts
- Build a DCF model for this company using the revenue, EBITDA, capex and D&A I pasted
- Calculate WACC and terminal value both ways, then show which one you picked
- Run a sensitivity grid of WACC from 8 to 10 percent against terminal growth

# DCF Valuation Skill

## Overview

I help you build Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models to estimate the intrinsic value of companies. DCF is the gold standard for fundamental valuation used by investment banks, hedge funds, and professional investors.

**What I can do:**
- Build complete DCF models from financial data
- Calculate WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital)
- Project future free cash flows
- Estimate terminal value (Gordon Growth or Exit Multiple)
- Run sensitivity analysis on key assumptions
- Generate professional valuation summaries

**What I cannot do:**
- Guarantee accuracy of projections
- Account for unpredictable future events
- Provide investment recommendations
- Replace professional financial due diligence

---

## How to Use Me

### Step 1: Provide Financial Data

I need:
- Historical financials (3-5 years of revenue, EBITDA, capex, D&A)
- Current shares outstanding
- Current stock price (optional, for comparison)
- Industry/sector context

### Step 2: Set Assumptions
