## What it does

The skill lays out what a dashboard is made of and ships markup patterns for each piece. Four blocks: KPI cards with a metric name, value, change percentage and trend icon; bar, pie and line charts drawn in SVG or CSS; progress bars; and data tables. Output goes to `[name]-dashboard.html`.

The workflow runs in order: pull the metrics and data, arrange the cards in a grid, generate the charts, add completion indicators. Semantic colors are the recommendation — green for positive, red for negative, blue for neutral. The card example keeps its styling inline in a `<style>` block: system font, light background, a shadow under each tile.

Charts are hand-built from `<rect>` elements inside `<svg>`, so the skill stays within SVG primitives. Interactive tooltips or zoom you add yourself. The upside is zero dependencies — no charting library, no build step.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --skill dashboard-creator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/dashboard-creator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/dashboard-creator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --skill dashboard-creator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/dashboard-creator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --skill dashboard-creator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/dashboard-creator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace dashboard-creator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/dashboard-creator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --skill dashboard-creator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --path visual-documentation-plugin/skills/dashboard-creator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/dashboard-creator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mhattingpete/claude-skills-marketplace --skill dashboard-creator -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- turn a metrics dataset into a viewable page
- color-code growth and decline at a glance
- draw a bar or pie chart without a charting library
- put a data table and progress bars on one screen
- ship a monitoring interface as a single HTML file

## Example prompts
- Create a dashboard from the metrics in this CSV
- Show a KPI visualization for revenue and conversion
- Generate a performance dashboard with charts

# Dashboard Creator

Create interactive HTML dashboards with KPI cards and charts.

## When to Use

- "Create dashboard for [metrics]"
- "Show KPI visualization"
- "Generate performance dashboard"
- "Make analytics dashboard with charts"

## Components

1. **KPI Cards**: metric name, value, change %, trend icon
2. **Charts**: bar/pie/line using SVG or CSS
3. **Progress Bars**: completion indicators
4. **Data Tables**: tabular data display

## HTML Structure

```html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>[Project] Dashboard</title>
  <style>
    body { font-family: system-ui; background: #f7fafc; }
    .kpi-card { background: white; padding: 20px; border-radius: 8px; box-shadow: 0 2px 4px rgba(0,0,0,0.1); }
    .kpi-value { font-size: 36px; font-weight: bold; }
    .trend-up { color: #48bb78; }
    .trend-down { color: #e53e3e; }
  </style>
</head>
<body>
  <h1>[Dashboard Name]</h1>
  <div class="grid">
    <!-- KPI cards -->
    <!-- Charts -->
    <!-- Progress bars -->
  </div>
</body>
</html>
```

## KPI Card Pattern

```html
<div class="kpi-card">
  <div class="kpi-label">Revenue</div>
  <div class="kpi-value">$124K</div>
  <div class="trend-up">↑ 12.5%</div>
</div>
```

## Chart Pattern (SVG Bar Chart)

```html
<svg viewBox="0 0 400 300">
  <rect x="50" y="100" width="40" height="150" fill="#4299e1"/>
  <rect x="120" y="80" width="40" height="170" fill="#48bb78"/>
  <!-- bars for each data point -->
</svg>
```

## Workflow

1. Extract metrics and data
2. Create KPI cards grid
3. Generate charts (bar/pie/line) as SVG
4. Add progress indicators
5. Write to `[name]-dashboard.html`

Use semantic colors: green (positive), red (negative), blue (neutral).
