# dagster-expert

## What it does

Install `dagster-expert` and ask your agent anything about Dagster, and you get no real answer. The plugin is marked deprecated: the Dagster skill was pulled out and now ships in the `dagster` plugin. What is left here does one job — point you to the replacement.

There is no guidance on the `dg` CLI, assets, materialization, components or pipelines. The agent is told not to answer Dagster questions from memory and instead to hand you two commands: `/plugin install dagster@dagster` and `/plugin uninstall dagster-expert`. In a Cursor session the instruction differs — uninstall the current Dagster plugin and install it again.

Both commands matter. Install `dagster` without removing `dagster-expert` and you end up with two plugins providing a skill named `dagster-expert`, and the deprecated one may be picked. If you already installed `dagster` and still see this notice, that is exactly what happened: uninstall `dagster-expert` and retry. The skill name stays the same, so it is still invoked as `/dagster-expert`.

If the user reaches this notice after already installing `dagster`, that is what has happened — have them uninstall `dagster-expert` and retry.

Nothing else changes: the skill keeps the name `dagster-expert` and is still invoked as `/dagster-expert`.
