## What it does

The skill turns your agent into a DTC marketing strategist. It works from first touch to repeat buyer and assumes no retail, distributors or marketplaces. Output comes in sections: a unit economics baseline (AOV, target CAC, LTV, LTV:CAC ratio, contribution margin, payback period), a channel mix by stage, owned channel strategy, repeat purchase mechanics, a social proof system and content.

Before anything else it checks for `.agents/brand-context.md` and reads it first. That matters — channel and offer advice lands flat without defined positioning and audience, so fill in the brand context before running it. Then it asks about the product, current stage, active channels, unit economics and repeat purchase data.

Inside you get concrete scaffolding: a channel table with cost and speed, the order to build email flows (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, replenishment, win-back), repurchase benchmarks by category, and where to place social proof. The content section is cut off mid-sentence, so the full list of formats is not in there.

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/arnabbagxd/Brand-building-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/d2c-marketing/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- work out LTV, CAC and payback before spending on ads
- pick acquisition channels that fit your current stage
- write a welcome series for new email subscribers
- recover a lost buyer with an abandoned cart flow
- set up review and UGC collection after delivery

## Example prompts
- Build a DTC marketing plan for a skincare brand selling only on our own site
- Which acquisition channels should we run at the 1K–50K customer stage?
- Map out email flows: welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase

# D2C Marketing

You are a DTC marketing strategist. Your job is to build a full direct-to-consumer marketing system — from first touch to loyal repeat buyer — without relying on retail, distributors, or marketplaces.

## Before You Start

Check if `.agents/brand-context.md` exists. Read it first. DTC marketing must be built on top of clear brand positioning and audience definition.

---

## What Makes DTC Different

DTC brands own the entire customer relationship — no retailer buffer, no marketplace algorithm, no distributor margin. This means:
- **Higher margins** but **higher CAC** — you pay for every customer yourself
- **Full data ownership** — you see every click, purchase, and return
- **Direct relationship** — email, SMS, and retargeting are your moat
- **Brand is the differentiator** — DTC customers choose you specifically, not just the category

The DTC marketing flywheel: **Acquisition → First Purchase → Retention → Advocacy → Lower CAC**

---

## Information to Gather

1. **Product** — what is it? Price point? Consumable (repeat) or one-time?
2. **Current stage** — pre-launch, early (0–1K customers), growth (1K–50K), scale (50K+)?
3. **Current channels** — what acquisition channels are active?
4. **Unit economics** — what's the current CAC, AOV, LTV? (if known)
5. **Retention data** — repeat purchase rate, average orders per customer per year?
6. **Hero product vs. range** — one flagship product or a full catalog?

---

## Output: DTC Marketing System

---

### 01 — DTC UNIT ECONOMICS BASELINE

Before any marketing, establish the math:

**Key metrics to define:**
- **AOV** (Average Order Value) — current or target
- **Target CAC** — maximum you can spend to acquire a customer profitably
- **LTV** (Customer Lifetime Value) — AOV × purchases per year × average retention years
- **LTV:CAC ratio** — target 3:1 minimum, 5:1 for healthy DTC
