# cypress-cloud-cli

The skill runs the cy-cloud CLI to inspect Cypress Cloud runs, specs, tests, and Test Replay data. Use it to triage failing test runs and check artifacts directly through the assistant.

## What it does

The skill operates via the `cy-cloud` command-line tool directly from the workspace. It runs CLI commands, parses stdout JSON, and investigates organizations, project runs, failing specs, and Test Replay artifacts. Progress output goes to stderr, while command payloads are parsed strictly from stdout to avoid parse failures.

Running the tool requires Node.js 22.21.0 or newer alongside `@cypress/cloud`. You authenticate via interactive OAuth or pass a token through `CYPRESS_CLOUD_TOKEN`. Keep in mind that your organization must enable the Cypress Cloud CLI integration beforehand; if the admin has not toggled it on, no CLI flag can bypass that requirement.

Cloud API calls are rate limited per user, so the assistant reuses known UUIDs and project slugs instead of re-fetching directories. Replay assets persist in a disk cache checked with `cy-cloud cache info`, ensuring repeated queries for the same test run locally without hitting API quotas.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cypress-io/ai-toolkit --skill cypress-cloud-cli -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cypress-io/ai-toolkit --skill cypress-cloud-cli -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cypress-io/ai-toolkit --skill cypress-cloud-cli -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install cypress-io/ai-toolkit cypress-cloud-cli
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cypress-io/ai-toolkit --skill cypress-cloud-cli -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/cypress-io/ai-toolkit --path skills/cypress-cloud-cli
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cypress-io/ai-toolkit --skill cypress-cloud-cli -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/cypress-io/ai-toolkit/tree/HEAD/skills/cypress-cloud-cli/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- triage failing spec runs using Test Replay records
- inspect error screenshots and test run artifacts
- check authentication status and local cache health
- retrieve project or spec details without opening the web dashboard

## Example prompts
- Check Cypress Cloud connection status using `cy-cloud status`
- Inspect the latest failed run in Cypress Cloud and explain the error
- Clean up stale Test Replay disk cache with `cy-cloud cache cleanup`

# Cypress Cloud CLI

Use `cy-cloud` directly to investigate Cypress Cloud. Execute the commands, inspect their JSON, and
report conclusions supported by the returned data. Do not send the user to the Cloud UI when the CLI
can answer the question.

## Start safely

The published binary requires Node.js 22.21.0 or newer.

Run these checks only on first use, when the environment is unknown, or after an installation or
authentication error. If `cy-cloud` already worked in this session, invoke the investigation command
directly instead of spending another turn rechecking the setup.

```bash
node --version
cy-cloud status
cy-cloud --help
```

Assume `cy-cloud` is already installed and available on `PATH`. Run it from the user's current
workspace; do not locate, clone, build, or depend on the cloud-cli source repository. If the command
is unavailable, stop and report the missing prerequisite. The user can install it with:

```bash
npm install -g @cypress/cloud
```

If unauthenticated, ask the user to choose an authentication method:

```bash
cy-cloud login                 # interactive OAuth
cy-cloud login --token "$PAT"  # persist a Personal Access Token
```

For CI or an existing environment, `CYPRESS_CLOUD_TOKEN` takes precedence over stored credentials
and writes no credential file.

Never print, echo, read back, or commit tokens. Never inspect
`~/.config/cy-cloud/auth.json` or `cypress.env.json`; use `cy-cloud status`.

The organization must have the Cypress Cloud CLI integration enabled. A response saying it is not
enabled requires action from an organization administrator; it cannot be fixed with another CLI command.

## Discover instead of guessing

Every command supports:

```bash
cy-cloud --help
cy-cloud <command> --help
cy-cloud <command> --schema
```

Treat `cy-cloud --help` as authoritative for available commands, per-command `--help` as
authoritative for arguments, and `--schema` as the intended response contract. Use them before
constructing a query when a command, flag, or field is uncertain. Do not memorize a command
inventory from this skill; the installed CLI may be newer or older than these instructions.
Validate the actual response too: `run get` can return a fractional `duration`, and
`replay info.failedAt` can be a fractional epoch even when the schema declares an integer. Treat
