# cx-olly

This skill wires the Coralogix Observability Agent Olly into your coding agent: ask about alerts, metrics and logs, then pull the artifacts it generates.

## What it does

The skill hands your agent three commands. `cx olly ask "message"` sends a message to Olly, `cx olly artifacts list` shows what it has generated, and `cx olly artifacts get <id>` fetches one artifact by ID. Olly reads your observability data and answers questions about alerts, metrics and logs, producing charts and reports along the way. Every reply carries a Chat ID, so follow-ups go through `--chat-id`.

Run `cx olly ask` in the background and poll it. The skill says investigations routinely take minutes, so blocking inline only makes sense for a quick lookup or a one-line follow-up. The file itself is a command table with flags, a section on agent-to-agent mode, artifact handling, and worked examples. Append `-o json` or `-o toon` for machine-readable output and pipe it to `jq`. Model choice goes through `--model`: `gpt-5.2` is the default, with `claude-sonnet-4-5`, `sonnet-4.6`, `gpt-5.4` and `claude-haiku-4-5` also available.

The catch is agent-to-agent mode. It defaults to `false` because humans call `cx olly ask` too. If an agent is the caller, it has to pass the flag itself, otherwise replies come back human-facing with charts and tables. The flag is per-call, not per-chat: `--chat-id` does not remember it, so a follow-up turn silently flips back. One more thing to plan around — `cx olly` does not support multi-profile fan-out, so you pick a single profile with `-p <profile>`. The response timeout defaults to 900 seconds and goes up with `--timeout`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-olly -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cx-olly/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-olly -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-olly -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install coralogix/cx-cli cx-olly
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-olly -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/coralogix/cx-cli --path skills/cx-olly
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-olly -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/coralogix/cx-cli/tree/HEAD/skills/cx-olly/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- ask which alerts fired today
- trace high latency in a service through logs and metrics
- download a generated chart or report by artifact ID
- get Olly's answer as JSON and filter it with jq
- continue an investigation while keeping the chat context

## Example prompts
- Ask Olly why the checkout service shows high latency and check logs with 'checkout:' strings
- Continue chat abc-123-def and tell me what changed in the last hour
- List the artifacts as JSON and get the content of the first one

# Olly Observability Agent Skill

Use this skill to interact with Coralogix's Observability Agent (Olly) via the `cx olly` CLI commands. Olly can analyze your observability data, answer questions about alerts, metrics, logs, and generate artifacts like charts and reports.

`cx olly ask` defaults `--agent-to-agent-mode` to **false**. **If you're an LLM/agent, pass `--agent-to-agent-mode`** - see "Agent-to-agent mode" below.

## CLI Commands

| Command | Purpose | Key flags |
|---|---|---|
| `cx olly ask "message"` | Send a message to the Observability Agent | `--chat-id`, `--model`, `--timeout`, `--agent-to-agent-mode` |
| `cx olly artifacts list` | List all generated artifacts | - |
| `cx olly artifacts get <id>` | Get artifact content by ID | - |

**Output format:** append `-o json` or `-o toon` for machine-readable output.

**Single-profile only:** `cx olly` commands do not support multi-profile fan-out. Use `-p <profile>` to specify a single profile.

## Running Olly (async by default)

**Run `cx olly ask` asynchronously by default:** launch it as a **background process and poll it for completion** rather than blocking on it. Olly investigations routinely take minutes, so this is the normal mode for `cx olly ask`.

Only run `cx olly ask` inline (foreground, blocking) for a short question you expect Olly to answer quickly — a quick lookup or a one-line follow-up. When in doubt, run it in the background.

## Chat Commands

### Start a new conversation

```bash
cx olly ask "What alerts fired today?" --agent-to-agent-mode
```

This creates a new chat and returns a response along with a **Chat ID** that you can use for follow-up questions.
Remove `--agent-to-agent-mode` if you don't have context to share (like quick access to source files) or if the created chat is only for human usage.

### Continue an existing chat

```bash
````
