## What it does

The skill walks the agent through nine phases. It starts by reading `README.md` and the entrypoint to work out what the service does, then hunts for metrics with `cx metrics search`, discovers log fields and span attributes with `cx search-fields`, and greps for Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS or Pub/Sub clients to find queue and DLQ names.

Next it asks you up to six questions: who the dashboard is for, the default time window, slicing dimensions like `tenant_id` or `region`, which environments to include. JSON generation waits until you approve the plan of sections and widgets. Every PromQL and DataPrime query is checked with a live `cx` call, the structure goes through server-side `cx dashboards check`, and only then does the dashboard get created. The agent is required to hand you a link at the end.

Metric names, log fields and span attributes come only from code, config or a query that returned a result. Invented names do not survive, because the live `cx` check rejects them before deployment. You need a configured `cx` CLI with access to your Coralogix tenant. To update an existing dashboard, the flow is `cx dashboards get`, edit the file, then `cx dashboards replace`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-dashboards -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cx-dashboards/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cx-dashboards/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-dashboards -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cx-dashboards/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-dashboards -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cx-dashboards/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install coralogix/cx-cli cx-dashboards
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cx-dashboards/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-dashboards -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/coralogix/cx-cli --path skills/cx-dashboards
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cx-dashboards/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add coralogix/cx-cli --skill cx-dashboards -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- build a monitoring dashboard for a service that has none
- validate PromQL and DataPrime queries before publishing
- find real metric names and log fields instead of guessing
- update an existing dashboard from a JSON file
- duplicate someone else's dashboard as a starting point

## Example prompts
- Build a Coralogix dashboard for the payments service: logs, spans and metrics, prod and staging only
- Verify every query in my dashboard.json through cx and replace the dashboard
- Make it a logs-only dashboard, the service has no metrics

# Create Coralogix Dashboard

Produces a Coralogix dashboard for a target service and deploys it via the `cx` CLI. Workflow: discover the service's telemetry, align on intent with the user, draft a plan, emit the JSON, live-verify every query through `cx`, then create the dashboard in a chosen folder.

Only use metric names, log fields, and span attributes you can cite from the service's code, README, configuration, or a live query that returned a result. Do not invent them.

## Dashboard Management

Beyond creating dashboards, use these commands to manage existing ones:

| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `cx dashboards catalog -o json` | List all dashboards in the catalog |
| `cx dashboards get <id> -o json` | Get a dashboard definition (useful as a template) |
| `cx dashboards folders list -o json` | List dashboard folders |
| `cx dashboards folders create --name "Name"` | Create a dashboard folder |
| `cx dashboards folders create --name "Sub" --parent-id <id>` | Create a nested folder |
```
