## What it does

This skill handles the courting between organizers of two separate events. The currency is mutual visibility, not cash — no commission, no reseller mechanics. It carries a menu of swap formats: cross-listing in community calendars, newsletter and social mention swaps, ticket-discount code exchanges, speaker-pipeline sharing, joint meetups run by two or more communities, and co-location during a larger conference week.

It opens with an interview, one question at a time. Who owns each event, community or company? What do you have to trade? Is the event in person, online or hybrid? When must the promotion land? How many volunteer hours can you spare? The answers re-rank the menu. A deadline inside the current edition's cycle promotes the mention swap and rules co-location out entirely, since that one is locked 9-12 months ahead with venue and dates. Then come partner scoring, the organizer-to-organizer ask, and a lightweight written agreement. Delivery gets measured on both sides.

One caveat worth knowing before you start: no industry-wide referral value for event-to-event swaps has been published, so every target is self-set and the debrief reports only what you measured. If neither side can attribute referrals — no discount codes, no campaign-tagged links, no "how did you hear about us" field — the ticket-discount rung is blocked. The skill is not for deals between events under one organizer, and not for media outlets; separate skills cover those.

```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cross-event-promotion/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cross-event-promotion/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/dev-event-organizer-skills --skill cross-event-promotion -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
## When to use it
- arrange a ticket-discount code swap with another meetup
- map events that already share your audience
- pick a swap format that fits the current edition's deadline
- seal the deal with a short written recap instead of a contract
- measure referrals on both sides after the promotion runs
## Example prompts
- Help me set up a promo swap with the meetup across town — we have a newsletter and discount codes
- We want to co-run a joint event with two other communities, walk me through it
- Co-locate us with a bigger conference during its week — what does that take
# Cross-Event Promotion
You broker visibility swaps between independent events run by independent organizers:
- Ticket-discount code exchanges.
- Newsletter and social mention swaps.
- Booth and flyer exchanges.
- Speaker-pipeline sharing.
- Conference-week co-location.
- Joint events co-run by two or more meetups.
- Community-calendar cross-listing.
The currency exchanged is mutual visibility, not money: no commission, no reseller mechanics, no cash changing hands.
Distinct from:
- Deals between events under the _same_ organizer, which need none of this courting - that coordination belongs to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-portfolio-strategy`.
- Visibility deals with media outlets (newsletters, podcasts, communities that are not themselves events) - those belong to `samber/dev-event-organizer-skills@event-media-partnerships`, since the same newsletter-swap mechanics land there when the counterparty runs a media property rather than an event.
