# content-recycling

A skill that brings proven evergreen posts back on a schedule with a new hook and updated facts, not a copy-paste repost. Useful when your best material sits idle.

## What it does

The skill follows the REUSE framework: it audits analytics for evergreen posts that already performed, drafts a refreshed version with a new hook or format, checks facts and dates, spaces each cycle roughly 90–120 days apart, and re-reads analytics after every cycle. One major variable changes per variant, and the opening line plus the visual get rewritten. Identical reposting is off the table.

Before drafting, the skill reads `brand-profile` and `voice-builder` so the refreshed piece still sounds like the brand. Winners come from WoopSocial post analytics for TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Bluesky, and from native dashboards elsewhere. No metric gets invented.

The agent drafts the refresh, a human reviews it, and scheduling-and-queue publishes through WoopSocial. That tool has no update path, so an edit means delete and recreate. Worth knowing if you expect to tweak a live post. Keep this skill separate from `cross-platform-repurposing` (one moment, many platforms) and `captions-and-clipping` (long-form into short clips).

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill content-recycling -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/content-recycling/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill content-recycling -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill content-recycling -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills content-recycling
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill content-recycling -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/content-recycling
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill content-recycling -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/content-recycling/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pull proven posts out of the archive instead of guessing from memory
- refresh stale stats, dates and links before republishing
- build a spaced recycling queue rather than dumping a backlog
- tell evergreen pieces apart from news and seasonal promos
- check that a refreshed version does not repeat the original word for word

## Example prompts
- build a recycling queue from our analytics and refresh the top post
- rework this post with a new hook, change only the format
- verify the facts and dates in that old post and draft an updated version

  Content recycling — resurface, update, and repost proven evergreen content over time. Use when someone wants to "get more mileage out of old posts,"
  "recycle/repost our best content," "resurface evergreen pieces," "update and republish an old post,"
  or build a recycling queue of proven winners. Recycles the INSIGHT refreshed (new hook/format/updated
  data) on a deliberate cadence — never an identical repost. Distinct from cross-platform-repurposing
  (same moment, many platforms) and captions-and-clipping (long-form -> short clips). Reads
  brand-profile + voice-builder first. The agent drafts the refresh; a human reviews; WoopSocial
  schedules/publishes (delete+recreate, no update); winners on the covered platforms are picked from WoopSocial post analytics; nothing
  is fabricated.

# content-recycling

The **time-axis** reuse discipline — turn a *proven evergreen* asset into multiple cycles, **refreshed
each time** so it's a new asset, not a stale duplicate. The agent drafts the refresh; a human reviews;
**scheduling-and-queue → WoopSocial** publishes.

## The POV: recycle the insight, not the artifact
Most accounts treat content as disposable — publish once, never again — and waste their best assets.
But **~80%+ of your audience misses any given post** (only ~5–10% of a network sees it), and new
followers never saw it at all. So your proven evergreen winners are **compounding assets.** Recycle
them — but **refresh, don't duplicate** (identical reposting risks Meta's 2026 originality penalties
and fatigues the core audience). Recycle **winners from a ranked list, not from memory.**

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** — pillars, non-negotiables (so the refresh stays on-brand).
2. **voice-builder** — so the refreshed version sounds like the brand.

## The framework: REUSE
(Depth: `references/the-reuse-framework.md`.)
- **R — Resurface the winners:** audit **native analytics** for proven *evergreen* pieces (by goal:
  engagement → saves/shares; traffic → CTR; growth → follows) + strong-but-underseen posts. Keep a
  recycling vault.
- **E — Earn the slot again:** recycle the insight with a **new hook/angle/format**; change **one
  major variable** per variant; **never repeat the same opening line.** Editing, not duplication.
- **U — Update for now:** verify facts/stats/dates/prices/links are current; refresh anything stale;
