## What it does

This skill walks through connecting Claude Code to HubSpot’s official MCP server with OAuth and a registered connector. Use it to find CRM records, inspect a company’s deals, or check a sample of records after cleanup. Before changing records, the server presents a summary and asks for confirmation.

You need a HubSpot user who can create an MCP connector, or an admin who can create one for you. The connection inherits that user’s permissions, so a read-only account stays read-only. Register the connector in HubSpot, add the server in Claude Code using the documented command, then authenticate through `/mcp`.

The server cannot delete or archive records, manage workflows, or handle large-scale edits. The guide points to scripts or the Agent CLI for those jobs; MCP is for conversational lookups and smaller changes. That permission boundary matters: connector access is tied to the HubSpot user who signs in.

## Requirements
- Works with: HubSpot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill connect-hubspot-mcp -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill connect-hubspot-mcp -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill connect-hubspot-mcp -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills connect-hubspot-mcp
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill connect-hubspot-mcp -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --path skills/connect-hubspot-mcp
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill connect-hubspot-mcp -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/connect-hubspot-mcp/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- search CRM records by filters
- inspect a company’s deals
- check selected records after a cleanup
- make small record changes with confirmation

## Example prompts
- Find contacts for this company and show the matching records.
- Check which open deals are linked to this company.
- Review a few records after cleanup and ask me before changing anything.

# Connect Claude to HubSpot via MCP

Set up HubSpot's official remote MCP server so Claude can read and write CRM records conversationally: look up a contact, inspect a company's deals, spot-check the results of a cleanup, without writing a script for every question.

## Three Ways to Reach a Portal

This toolkit can talk to HubSpot three ways. They overlap less than they appear to.

| | Remote MCP server (this skill) | Agent CLI (`/connect-hubspot-agent-cli`) | REST scripts (every scripted skill) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Status | Generally available | Beta | v3/v4 paths, see `/audit-api-usage` |
| Auth | OAuth as you, via an MCP connector | OAuth as you, or a service key | Service key in `.env` |
| Best for | Lookups, spot-checks, judgment calls, small edits | Bulk and admin work driven from the terminal | Repeatable runs with a CSV audit trail and an abort threshold |
| Bulk reads | 200 records per page | Paginated, JSONL out | Paginated |
| Bulk writes | A few records at a time, each confirmed | JSONL in, dry run first | Batches of 100 |
| Delete or archive | **Not available** | Yes, guarded | Yes, guarded |
| Workflows | **Not available** | List, get, create, update, delete | Create, export, restore |
| Properties | Create only | Create, update, archive | Create |
| Runs headless (CI, scheduled) | No | With a service key | Yes |

Rule of thumb: **MCP to look, scripts to change at scale.** Reach for the Agent CLI when a job is bulk or administrative and no scripted skill covers it.

| Task shape | Use |
|-----------|-----|
| "Show me 5 contacts the cleanup touched" | MCP |
| "Why is this company in Tier 2?" | MCP |
| "Which open deals has nobody touched this quarter? Show me a few." | MCP |
| "Delete 4,000 no-email contacts with an audit trail" | Scripts (`/delete-no-email-contacts`) |
| "Create 10 segmentation lists" | Scripts (`/build-smart-lists`) |
| "Export every workflow to JSON" | Scripts (`/workflows-as-code`) |
| "Archive these 60 unused properties" | Agent CLI |

## What the Server Exposes

HubSpot's remote MCP server lives at `https://mcp.hubspot.com` and speaks streamable HTTP. It currently offers 32 tools. The ones that matter for CRM administration:

| Tool | What it does | Limit |
|------|--------------|-------|

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the e3808c5239d9417d tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
