# confusion-tracker

This skill collects questions about difficult concepts during tutoring and saves explanations for exam revision. It connects learning progress with a reviewable record of unresolved questions.

## What it does

confusion-tracker recognises questions about the meaning of a concept, the reasoning behind a result, or the derivation of a formula. It responds using the current chapter's learning materials, then stores the question, a short explanation, the related chapter, and a review status. Material-based answers and AI-added background receive separate labels, so learners can distinguish course content from additional context.

The skill tracks progress through `study_progress.md` and uses `study_state.json` as the authoritative state when that file exists. It writes confusion records through `scripts/update_progress.py` and stores the full explanation in `notebook/chNN.md` using `scripts/notebook.py`. A failed state-writing command must be reported rather than bypassed by editing the generated Markdown table.

During a final review, the skill asks learners to explain each recorded concept themselves. It marks a question as reviewed when the explanation is correct; otherwise, the item stays open for another attempt. Clients without file support retain the explanation in chat only. This skill handles conceptual questions, while quiz answers and grading belong to `exam-quiz`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill confusion-tracker -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/confusion-tracker/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/confusion-tracker/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill confusion-tracker -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/confusion-tracker/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill confusion-tracker -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/confusion-tracker/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill confusion-tracker
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/confusion-tracker/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill confusion-tracker -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --path full/skills/confusion-tracker
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/confusion-tracker/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill confusion-tracker -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- Capture conceptual questions raised during tutoring
- Keep explanations alongside structured study progress
- Build a revision list from unresolved learning questions
- Update review status after a learner explains a concept
- Distinguish course-based explanations from AI-added context

## Example prompts
- Explain the reasoning behind this formula using the current study chapter, then save the question for revision.
- Clarify this concept from the learning materials and record the main points of the explanation.
- Review my saved questions one by one, ask me to explain each concept, and update its review status.

# confusion-tracker — concept-confusion tracking

## Purpose
Capture the learner's concept-level confusions (why / what / how-derived questions — not quiz answers) during tutoring and record them into the 「概念疑难点记录」 section of `study_progress.md`, building a pre-exam review list. Used by `exam-tutor` (while teaching) and `exam-review` (during the final sweep).

## Activation
- During tutoring, when the learner asks a concept question matching: 「为什么…？」/「…是什么、什么意思？」/「这个公式怎么推、怎么来的？」/「…的重点是什么？」/「讲一下…」, or any clarification follow-up that is not a quiz answer.
- Skip for: pure quiz answering (right or wrong), and chit-chat that needs no concept explanation.

## Inputs
- The progress-file path (e.g. `study_progress.md`), read at session start.
- The current chapter/phase name being taught.

## Workflow
1. **Detect** — decide whether the follow-up is a concept question (not a quiz item or its answer).
2. **Answer** — give a concise, clear explanation grounded in the current wiki chapter. Label the source: 🟢 来自资料 for material-sourced content, 🟡 AI补充，可能与你老师讲的不完全一致 for AI-supplied background. Never present AI-added content as the teacher's.
