## What it does

The skill outlines a structured workflow for auditing competitors across organic search and content. It checks keyword overlap in SERPs, inspects competitor title and heading tags, and identifies backlink gaps where rivals earn links. For broader audits, it parses export files from tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or SimilarWeb.

When auditing a specific article, the agent fetches two or three top-ranking competitor pages. To do this, it depends on web fetching tools like `mcp_web_fetch` or `WebSearch`; without them, live page comparison fails. The audit highlights average word count, missing H2 sections, schema usage, and keyword placement in the opening copy.

Reports follow a modular format covering executive takeaways, a feature-by-feature matrix, and a SWOT breakdown. If your goal is strictly building a publication calendar, the repository directs you to the `content-strategy` skill instead.
