## What it does

The skill drives the `hubspot` CLI. `activities list` returns one flat row per activity, newest first, with `id`, `type`, `timestamp`, `title`, `body`, `status` and `owner_id`. Activity kind is one of `CALL`, `EMAIL`, `NOTE`, `MEETING`, `TASK`. Pick a record with `--contact`, `--deal`, `--company` or `--ticket`, or use `--type <object_type> --record <id>` for anything else.

A pre-call brief is four piped commands: the contact card, its company, open deals, then recent activity. Associations come from `hubspot associations list`, and `jq` drops closed deals by checking `hs_is_closed`. For point-in-time filtering compare `lastModified`, not `timestamp` — the latter is when the engagement was created, so a cutoff on it still lets in content edited afterwards.

Call and meeting transcripts are fetched by activity ID with `activities transcript get`, plus `--activity-type MEETING` for meetings and `--fields` to narrow the enrichment fields. Transcript deletion cannot be undone, so run `--dry-run` first. There is no cursor: `--limit` defaults to 100 and no `--after` exists, which means a long history cannot be paged through.

## Requirements
- Works with: HubSpot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --skill communication-history -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/communication-history/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/communication-history/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --skill communication-history -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/communication-history/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --skill communication-history -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/communication-history/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install HubSpot/agent-cli-skills communication-history
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/communication-history/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --skill communication-history -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --path communication-history
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/communication-history/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HubSpot/agent-cli-skills --skill communication-history -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/HubSpot/agent-cli-skills/tree/HEAD/communication-history/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a pre-call brief for a contact
- dump every call transcript to one file
- filter activity to the last 30 days
- skim a compact timeline of recent touches
- pull open deals tied to a contact

## Example prompts
- build a pre-call brief for contact 73235
- show the last 10 activities on this deal
- dump all call transcripts to /tmp/transcripts.jsonl

Read `bulk-operations/SKILL.md` first — JSONL piping, batch read, and `jq` reshape patterns (`resources/json-patterns.md`) apply. `hubspot activities list --help` is the source of truth.

## Output shape

`activities list` returns one flat row per activity, sorted newest-first: `{id, type, timestamp, lastModified, title, body, status, owner_id}`. `timestamp` and `lastModified` are ISO 8601; `type` is `CALL|EMAIL|NOTE|MEETING|TASK`. Different from the raw `hs_call_*` / `hs_timestamp` (Unix ms) on the underlying objects — fetch those with `hubspot objects get --type calls` if needed.

For point-in-time filtering compare `lastModified` (`hs_lastmodifieddate`, when the body was last edited), not `timestamp` (engagement creation time) — otherwise you include content edited after your cutoff.

## All activity for a record

Pass exactly one of `--contact`, `--deal`, `--company`, `--ticket` (or `--type <object_type> --record <id>` for any other object type). Use `--activity-type CALL|EMAIL|NOTE|MEETING|TASK` to filter by activity kind, `--limit N` for the most recent N. Note `--type` is now the object-type flag, not the activity-kind filter:

```bash
hubspot activities list --contact 73235
hubspot activities list --deal 67890 --activity-type CALL
hubspot activities list --type subscriptions --record 45123 --activity-type NOTE
hubspot activities list --contact 73235 --limit 10
```

## Client-side date filter

ISO 8601 strings compare lexicographically.

```bash
CUTOFF=$(date -v-30d +%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ)          # macOS
# CUTOFF=$(date -u -d '30 days ago' +%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ)  # Linux
hubspot activities list --contact 73235 \
| jq -c --arg cutoff "$CUTOFF" 'select(.timestamp > $cutoff)'
```

## Compact timeline

```bash
hubspot activities list --contact 73235 --limit 20 \
| jq -r '"\(.timestamp[0:10])  \(.type)  \(.title)"'
```

## Pre-call brief

Four piped commands: contact + company + open deals + activity. Use batch `objects get` over stdin — never `xargs -I{}` (see `bulk-operations/SKILL.md`).

```bash
cid=73235
echo "=== Contact ==="
hubspot objects get --type contacts $cid \
````

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 6da580a8d62ab58f tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
