## What it does

This skill sets up creator-to-creator cross-promotion where both sides have comparable audience sizes and shared values. It reads `brand-profile` and `goals-and-kpis` first, so the niche and the follower goal drive the partner search. Fit follows the UNITE framework: complementary rather than competing, audience size within 0.5–2×, values-aligned.

The agent then negotiates the plan before anyone creates anything — format, who does what, timing, one CTA, and what each side says. For a first collab it suggests a low-risk format and reaching out 3–4 weeks ahead. A bare shoutout barely moves the needle, so the emphasis lands on co-created content that carries value for both audiences.

Publishing works like this: WoopSocial posts each partner's own content to their own account on a coordinated schedule, with the partner tagged in the title or first ~50 characters. It does not build native IG Collab posts, run giveaways, or handle duet/stitch, and it never DMs partners or manages the agreement — that part stays human. If money or free product changed hands, the collab is a sponsorship: disclose it, and the task routes to `ugc-and-influencer`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill collabs-and-cross-promotion -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill collabs-and-cross-promotion -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill collabs-and-cross-promotion -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills collabs-and-cross-promotion
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill collabs-and-cross-promotion -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/collabs-and-cross-promotion/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill collabs-and-cross-promotion -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- find a partner at a similar size without niche overlap
- agree format and timing before shooting starts
- draft posts for both sides on one schedule
- set a per-source metric and keep the numbers honest
- spot when a collab becomes a sponsorship that needs disclosure

## Example prompts
- find me a cross-promo partner in my niche and draft the collab plan
- write the posts for me and my partner on this month's schedule
- check whether I need a disclosure if my partner sent free product

  Creator collabs and cross-promotion — organic creator-to-creator partnerships that swap
  audiences. Use when someone wants to set up a collab, audience swap, cross-promotion, shoutout
  swap, joint giveaway, guest spot, joint video/series, a YouTube/IG collab post, or co-promo with
  another creator. Picks a complementary, similar-size, values-aligned partner, agrees the plan
  before creating, and co-creates shared-value content (not a bare shoutout) on a coordinated
  schedule. Uses the UNITE framework. Reads brand-profile + goals-and-kpis first. WoopSocial
  publishes each partner's OWN posts to their OWN
  accounts; it does NOT create native IG Collab co-authored posts, run giveaways, duet/stitch, or
  manage the agreement. A pure mutual collab isn't a sponsorship, but
  payment/free product makes it one -> disclose -> ugc-and-influencer; partnerships must be genuine;
  metrics never fabricated. Distinct from ugc-and-influencer (brand->creator) and
  creator-monetization (the creator's income).

# collabs-and-cross-promotion

A **strategy/relationship skill** — pick the partner, plan the cross-promo, write both sides. The agent
**advises + drafts + plans**; **WoopSocial publishes each partner's own posts** on the coordinated schedule;
the **co-created content + the relationship are native/human.**

## The POV: mutuality, complementary partners, plan before you create
A collab's defining trait is **mutuality** — both creators contribute **and** both promote. That's what
separates it from a sponsorship (a paid mention) and from brand→creator UGC. The growth comes from a
**complementary-not-competing, similar-size (0.5–2×), values-aligned** partner — and from **agreeing the
cross-promo plan before anyone creates.** Be honest about the shift: **bare shoutouts barely move the needle
now** — **shared value beats shared exposure**, so co-create something real. WoopSocial's job is the
coordinated **publish** of **each side's own posts**; the co-created content and the relationship are not
things a scheduler can make.

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** — niche / audience / values (for fit).
2. **goals-and-kpis** — the growth goal + the success metric (subs/followers per source).
