## What it does

The skill gives your agent access to CoinMarketCap market data through the official API v1. Five commands cover the ground: `top` returns coins ranked by market cap, `quote` gives a single coin's live numbers, `trending` shows what people viewed most in the last day, `gainers` lists the top movers up and down for a period, and `performance` breaks price change down across several timeframes. Responses are JSON; the formatted text sits in the `humanized` field.

Everything runs through the Teneo CLI rather than an SDK import. Check whether it is installed first: `test -f ~/teneo-skill/teneo && ~/teneo-skill/teneo --version || echo "NOT_INSTALLED"`. If it is missing, follow the setup in the `teneo-cli` skill, which also carries the source. A call looks like this: `~/teneo-skill/teneo command "coinmarketcap-agent" "quote <symbol>" --room <roomId>`. The placeholders `<number>`, `<symbol>`, `<period>` and `<roomId>` are required.

Queries cost money: `top`, `trending` and `gainers` run $0.001 per query, while `quote` and `performance` cost $0.0005. Payment is in USDC on Base, Peaq and Avalanche. Watch the limits — `top` and `trending` cap at 50, and `gainers` only accepts 1h, 24h, 7d or 30d. Any other period fails.
