## What it does

This skill frames code review findings as Blocker, Major, Minor, or Suggestion. It directs attention to bugs, error handling, injection and authorization risks, tests, duplication, memory leaks, O(n²) loops, and N+1 queries rather than formatting or personal style preferences.

It recommends reviewing up to 200 changed lines in one session, handling 200-400 lines in chunks, and requesting a split for larger PRs. Treat that limit seriously: the skill explicitly keeps a review below 400 lines.

The skill includes `qe-quality-analyzer`, `qe-security-scanner`, `qe-performance-tester`, and `qe-coverage-analyzer`. It requires at least 3 actionable observations with a weighted score of 3.0; when an initial pass falls short, it calls for `qe-devils-advocate` as a meta-reviewer.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --skill code-review-quality -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/code-review-quality/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --skill code-review-quality -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --skill code-review-quality -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe code-review-quality
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --skill code-review-quality -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --path assets/skills/code-review-quality
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe --skill code-review-quality -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/proffesor-for-testing/agentic-qe/tree/HEAD/assets/skills/code-review-quality/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find logic bugs and edge cases
- spot injection and authorization risks
- check tests for changed code
- split oversized pull requests for review
- write feedback that explains the reason

## Example prompts
- Review this PR for logic, security, testability, and maintainability.
- Review the changed files and label findings as Blocker, Major, or Minor.
- Check whether the new error paths and branches have tests.

# Code Review Quality

<default_to_action>
When reviewing code or establishing review practices:
1. PRIORITIZE feedback: 🔴 Blocker (must fix) → 🟡 Major → 🟢 Minor → 💡 Suggestion
2. FOCUS on: Bugs, security, testability, maintainability (not style preferences)
3. ASK questions over commands: "Have you considered...?" > "Change this to..."
4. PROVIDE context: Why this matters, not just what to change
5. LIMIT scope: Review < 400 lines at a time for effectiveness

**Quick Review Checklist:**
- Logic: Does it work correctly? Edge cases handled?
- Security: Input validation? Auth checks? Injection risks?
- Testability: Can this be tested? Is it tested?
- Maintainability: Clear naming? Single responsibility? DRY?
- Performance: O(n²) loops? N+1 queries? Memory leaks?

**Critical Success Factors:**
- Review the code, not the person
- Catching bugs > nitpicking style
- Fast feedback (< 24h) > thorough feedback
</default_to_action>

## Quick Reference Card

### When to Use
- PR code reviews
- Pair programming feedback
- Establishing team review standards
- Mentoring developers

### Feedback Priority Levels
| Level | Icon | Meaning | Action |
|-------|------|---------|--------|
| Blocker | 🔴 | Bug/security/crash | Must fix before merge |
| Major | 🟡 | Logic issue/test gap | Should fix before merge |
| Minor | 🟢 | Style/naming | Nice to fix |
| Suggestion | 💡 | Alternative approach | Consider for future |

### Review Scope Limits
| Lines Changed | Recommendation |
|---------------|----------------|
| < 200 | Single review session |
| 200-400 | Review in chunks |
| > 400 | Request PR split |

### What to Focus On
| ✅ Review | ❌ Skip |
|-----------|---------|
| Logic correctness | Formatting (use linter) |
| Security risks | Naming preferences |
| Test coverage | Architecture debates |
| Performance issues | Style opinions |
| Error handling | Trivial changes |

## Feedback Templates

### Blocker (Must Fix)
```markdown
🔴 **BLOCKER: SQL Injection Risk**
This query is vulnerable to SQL injection:
```javascript
db.query(`SELECT * FROM users WHERE id = ${userId}`)
```
