## What it does

Reach for this skill when you want an HTML artifact, a walkthrough, a verification page or a demo page. The agent gathers the smallest set of real evidence: command output, logs, screenshots, video frames, a timing table. Invented evidence is off the table.

The finished `index.html` goes into a branch-scoped tree at `/cmux-assets/<branch>/<artifact-slug>`. If that path cannot be created or written, the skill falls back to `cmux-assets/<branch>/<artifact-slug>` inside the repo checkout and says so. `/tmp` is scratch only, so accepted logs and screenshots get copied into the durable tree before they are shown. Interactive artifacts may be a small React site in the same directory; when `bun` is installed, the server runs in a visible cmux helper terminal rather than a detached background process.

The artifact opens as a browser surface on its `file://` URL, not through `cmux open`, which would give you a file preview instead of a rendered page. In a single-pane workspace the skill creates a right split, because a surface added to the active pane just stacks behind the terminal and the user sees nothing change. After you rewrite `index.html`, `reload --snapshot-after` is the proof the visible page is fresh — browser surfaces can hold stale file content. Worth checking before you hand the artifact over.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --skill cmux-artifact -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cmux-artifact/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --skill cmux-artifact -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --skill cmux-artifact -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install manaflow-ai/cmux-skills cmux-artifact
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --skill cmux-artifact -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --path skills/cmux-artifact
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux-skills --skill cmux-artifact -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/cmux-artifact/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a page of logs and screenshots to verify a change
- put run timings into one table
- show a report beside the terminal without stealing focus
- move accepted logs and video out of /tmp into a durable tree
- serve an interactive demo from a visible helper terminal

## Example prompts
- build an HTML artifact with the logs and screenshots from this run
- make a verification page for this change and open it in the right pane
- I need a demo walkthrough with timings — put it under /cmux-assets and show it in the browser

# cmux Artifact

Use this skill when the user asks for an HTML artifact, walkthrough, evidence page, demo page, artifact preview, or a workspace layout that helps them dogfood, verify, or understand a change. The goal is a durable, inspectable artifact plus non-disruptive cmux workspace tabs for the important evidence.

## Prerequisites

- The caller cmux workspace is the default target, not a requirement. Read the `cmux-workspace` skill when opening panes, tabs, browsers, logs, screenshots, videos, or generated documents.
  - Default to the caller workspace's right helper pane for task-tied evidence (dogfood proof, failure logs, verification pages) that the user wants next to the work they triggered.
  - Prefer a dedicated or new workspace when the artifact is standalone and durable (a design doc, report, or reference page the user will return to), when splitting the caller workspace would crowd an active terminal, or when the user asks for it elsewhere. Create it additively with `cmux new-workspace`; only switch to it when the user asked to view the artifact now (an explicit "open it" counts). Never call `select-workspace`/`focus-pane` speculatively.
  - If unsure which fits, ask, or pick the least-disruptive option and say where you put it so the user can redirect.
- Prefer real command output, logs, screenshots, traces, and timings. Do not invent evidence.
- Keep final user-facing artifacts out of `/tmp`.

## Artifact Location

Put final artifacts under a branch-scoped durable tree:

```bash
BRANCH="$(git -C <worktree-or-repo> branch --show-current 2>/dev/null || echo task)"
ASSET_ROOT="/cmux-assets/${BRANCH:-task}/<artifact-slug>"
mkdir -p "$ASSET_ROOT"
```

If `/cmux-assets` cannot be created or written, use `cmux-assets/<branch>/<artifact-slug>` under the current repo checkout and state that fallback. `/tmp` is scratch only. Copy accepted logs, screenshots, frames, videos, and transcripts into the durable tree before opening or reporting them.

## Workflow

### Step 1: Gather Evidence

Collect the smallest set of real artifacts that explain the task:

- command transcript or terminal output
- relevant logs
