# cloudflare

A skill that helps your agent pick the right Cloudflare product and check the docs instead of relying on stale training data.

## What it does

The skill is built around decision trees. You say what you need — run code, store data, wire up AI — and the agent follows the branch to a product: Workers, Pages, Durable Objects, KV, D1, R2, Vectorize, Agents SDK, Tunnel, WAF, Terraform or Pulumi. From there it loads the matching reference.

Inside sits a set of `references/` folders grouped by area: compute, storage, AI, networking, security, media, analytics, infrastructure-as-code. One rule is stated up front: fetch current numbers, API signatures and config options from Cloudflare docs, the `@cloudflare/workers-types` package, the Wrangler config schema and the changelog before quoting them. When a reference file and the docs disagree, the docs win.

That matters because model knowledge of Cloudflare limits and pricing goes stale. The skill shifts the agent toward retrieval rather than memory. Install with `npx skills add openai/plugins --skill cloudflare`; for Claude add the `-a codex` flag.

## Requirements
- Works with: Terraform

## Install

### Codex (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill cloudflare -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Claude Code

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill cloudflare -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cloudflare/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install openai/plugins cloudflare
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/openai/plugins --path plugins/cloudflare/skills/cloudflare
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/openai/plugins/tree/HEAD/plugins/cloudflare/skills/cloudflare/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- choose between Workers, Pages and Durable Objects for a task
- pick storage: KV, D1, R2 or Queues
- wire up Workers AI inference and vector search in Vectorize
- set up a Tunnel or WAF without reading the whole docs site
- describe Cloudflare infrastructure in Terraform or Pulumi

## Example prompts
- I need a serverless endpoint on Workers with KV caching — where do I start
- store uploads in R2 and serve them through a Worker
- build RAG on Workers AI and Vectorize, walk me through it

# Cloudflare Platform Skill

Consolidated skill for building on the Cloudflare platform. Use decision trees below to find the right product, then load detailed references.

Your knowledge of Cloudflare APIs, types, limits, and pricing may be outdated. **Prefer retrieval over pre-training** — the references in this skill are starting points, not source of truth.

## Retrieval Sources

Fetch the **latest** information before citing specific numbers, API signatures, or configuration options. Do not rely on baked-in knowledge or these reference files alone.

| Source | How to retrieve | Use for |
|--------|----------------|---------|
| Cloudflare docs | Search `https://developers.cloudflare.com/` directly | Limits, pricing, API reference, compatibility dates/flags |
| Workers types | `npm pack @cloudflare/workers-types` or check `node_modules` | Type signatures, binding shapes, handler types |
| Wrangler config schema | `node_modules/wrangler/config-schema.json` | Config fields, binding shapes, allowed values |
| Product changelogs | `https://developers.cloudflare.com/changelog/` | Recent changes to limits, features, deprecations |

When a reference file and the docs disagree, **trust the docs**. This is especially important for: numeric limits, pricing tiers, type signatures, and configuration options.

## Quick Decision Trees

### "I need to run code"

```
Need to run code?
├─ Serverless functions at the edge → workers/
├─ Full-stack web app with Git deploys → pages/
├─ Stateful coordination/real-time → durable-objects/
├─ Long-running multi-step jobs → workflows/
├─ Run containers → containers/
├─ Multi-tenant (customers deploy code) → workers-for-platforms/
├─ Scheduled tasks (cron) → cron-triggers/
├─ Lightweight edge logic (modify HTTP) → snippets/
├─ Process Worker execution events (logs/observability) → tail-workers/
└─ Optimize latency to backend infrastructure → smart-placement/
```

### "I need to store data"

```
Need storage?
├─ Key-value (config, sessions, cache) → kv/
├─ Relational SQL → d1/ (SQLite) or hyperdrive/ (existing Postgres/MySQL)
├─ Object/file storage (S3-compatible) → r2/
├─ Message queue (async processing) → queues/
├─ Vector embeddings (AI/semantic search) → vectorize/
├─ Strongly-consistent per-entity state → durable-objects/ (DO storage)
├─ Secrets management → secrets-store/
├─ Streaming ETL to R2 → pipelines/
└─ Persistent cache (long-term retention) → cache-reserve/
```

### "I need AI/ML"

```
Need AI?
├─ Run inference (LLMs, embeddings, images) → workers-ai/
├─ Vector database for RAG/search → vectorize/
