## What it does

The skill walks through six steps. It starts with client context: household members, account types such as taxable, IRA, Roth, 401(k) and trust, total AUM, the Investment Policy Statement with target allocation and risk tolerance, life stage, last meeting date and open items.

Performance comes next, per account and for the household: QTD, YTD, one-year, three-year and since-inception returns against a benchmark, plus alpha. Attribution names the top three contributors and top three detractors, and flags any single position that moved the number. Then a current-versus-target allocation table with drift and an action column. Drift beyond the IPS rebalancing threshold gets flagged; the skill cites 3-5% as the usual band, but your IPS decides.

Output is a one-page summary in Word or PDF, a performance table with benchmarks, an allocation pie chart, recommended actions and a timed agenda. Recommendations cover rebalancing trades, tax-loss harvesting, cash deployment or withdrawals, Roth conversions, beneficiary updates and insurance review. All materials have to match firm policy and regulatory requirements, so check compliance before the meeting rather than after.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anthropics/financial-services --skill client-review -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/client-review/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/client-review/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anthropics/financial-services --skill client-review -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/client-review/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anthropics/financial-services --skill client-review -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/client-review/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install anthropics/financial-services client-review
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/client-review/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anthropics/financial-services --skill client-review -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**

gemini skills install https://github.com/anthropics/financial-services --path plugins/agent-plugins/meeting-prep-agent/skills/client-review
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/client-review/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anthropics/financial-services --skill client-review -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
## When to use it
- build a household performance summary with benchmark comparisons
- spot allocation drift and decide whether to rebalance
- identify which positions drove or dragged the quarter
- draft a timed meeting agenda
- log client action items before the next review
## Example prompts
- Prep a client review for the Ivanov household, meeting is Thursday
- Do meeting prep for Petrov: quarterly performance and allocation
- Put together a quarterly review across all of Smirnova's accounts
# Client Review Prep
## Workflow
### Step 1: Client Context
Gather or look up:
- **Client name** and household members
- **Account types**: Taxable, IRA, Roth, 401(k), trust, etc.
- **Total AUM** across accounts
- **Investment Policy Statement (IPS)**: Target allocation, risk tolerance, constraints
- **Life stage**: Accumulation, pre-retirement, retirement, legacy
- **Last meeting date** and any outstanding action items
### Step 2: Portfolio Performance
For each account and the household aggregate:
| Metric | QTD | YTD | 1-Year | 3-Year | Since Inception |
|--------|-----|-----|--------|--------|----------------|
| Portfolio return | | | | | |
| Benchmark return | | | | | |
| Alpha | | | | | |
**Performance Attribution:**
- Which asset classes / positions drove returns?
- Top 3 contributors and top 3 detractors
- Any outsized single-position impact?
### Step 3: Allocation Review
Current vs. target allocation:
| Asset Class | Target | Current | Drift | Action |
|------------|--------|---------|-------|--------|
| US Large Cap | | | | |
| US Mid/Small | | | | |
| International Developed | | | | |
| Emerging Markets | | | | |
| Fixed Income | | | | |
| Alternatives | | | | |
| Cash | | | | |
Flag any drift exceeding the IPS rebalancing threshold (typically 3-5%).
### Step 4: Talking Points
Generate a meeting agenda:
1. **Market overview** (2-3 min): Brief macro context and outlook
2. **Portfolio performance** (5 min): How did we do? Why?
3. **Allocation review** (5 min): Any rebalancing needed?
4. **Planning updates** (5-10 min):
   - Life changes? (job, health, family, home, education)
   - Income needs changing?
   - Tax situation updates
   - Estate planning updates
5. **Action items** (5 min): What are we doing before next meeting?
### Step 5: Proactive Recommendations
Based on the review, suggest:
- Rebalancing trades (if drift exceeds thresholds)
- Tax-loss harvesting opportunities
```
