## What it does

\`cli-anything-lldb` controls LLDB through the LLDB Python API. It creates a target from an executable, launches or attaches to a process by PID or name, and manages breakpoints, threads, frames, locals, expressions, memory, and core dumps. Automated flows can use `--json` for structured results.

Separate invocations share a persistent session daemon by default. Pin a task to `--session-file PATH` or `CLI_ANYTHING_LLDB_SESSION_FILE`, then run `session close` when the work is done so attached processes detach and launched debuggees are cleaned up. Create a target before running process or core commands.

The skill also exposes a Debug Adapter Protocol server through `cli-anything-lldb-dap` or `cli-anything-lldb dap`. It supports launch, attach, breakpoints, stack inspection, variables, expression evaluation, memory reads, and stepping. LLDB Python bindings, `click>=8.0`, and `prompt-toolkit>=3.0` are required, so checking the LLDB Python setup is a practical prerequisite.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HKUDS/CLI-Anything --skill cli-anything-lldb -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cli-anything-lldb/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HKUDS/CLI-Anything --skill cli-anything-lldb -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HKUDS/CLI-Anything --skill cli-anything-lldb -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install HKUDS/CLI-Anything cli-anything-lldb
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HKUDS/CLI-Anything --skill cli-anything-lldb -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/HKUDS/CLI-Anything --path skills/cli-anything-lldb
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add HKUDS/CLI-Anything --skill cli-anything-lldb -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/HKUDS/CLI-Anything/tree/HEAD/skills/cli-anything-lldb/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create an LLDB target from an executable
- set conditional or pending breakpoints
- inspect stacks, locals, and frame expressions
- read or search a process memory range
- connect an AI client through a DAP server

## Example prompts
- Create a target for `/path/to/exe`, launch it, and set a breakpoint on `main` with `cli-anything-lldb --json`.
- Show the current backtrace and frame locals using `cli-anything-lldb --json thread backtrace --limit 20` and `cli-anything-lldb --json frame locals`.
- Attach by PID, search memory for `needle`, and close the session with `cli-anything-lldb --json session close` when finished.

# LLDB CLI Skill

Use this CLI to run structured LLDB debugging workflows with JSON output.

## Capabilities

- Create debug target from executable path
- Launch process or attach by pid/name
- Manage breakpoints (set/list/delete/enable/disable)
- Inspect threads, frames, locals, and backtrace
- Evaluate expressions in current frame
- Read/find process memory
- Load core dumps
- Interactive REPL with persistent session state
- Formal stdio Debug Adapter Protocol server for AI/editor clients

## Quick Commands

```bash
cli-anything-lldb --json target create --exe /path/to/exe
cli-anything-lldb --json process launch --arg foo --arg bar
cli-anything-lldb --json breakpoint set --function main
cli-anything-lldb --json breakpoint set --function PluginEntry --allow-pending
cli-anything-lldb --json process continue
cli-anything-lldb --json process interrupt
cli-anything-lldb --json thread backtrace --limit 20
cli-anything-lldb --json frame locals
cli-anything-lldb --json expr "myVar"
cli-anything-lldb --json memory read --address 0x1000 --size 64
cli-anything-lldb --json session close
```

## Debug Adapter Protocol

Use the DAP entry point when an AI client needs a real debug adapter lifecycle
instead of shelling out separate CLI commands:

```bash
cli-anything-lldb-dap
cli-anything-lldb-dap --profile /path/to/stop-rules.json
```

or:

```bash
cli-anything-lldb dap
cli-anything-lldb dap --profile /path/to/stop-rules.json
```

The DAP server speaks stdio `Content-Length` frames and must have exclusive
stdout. Do not print logs to stdout around it. Supported requests include
`initialize`, `launch`, `attach`, `configurationDone`, `setBreakpoints`,
`setFunctionBreakpoints`, `threads`, `stackTrace`, `scopes`, `variables`,
`setVariable`, `evaluate`, `continue`, `pause`, `next`, `stepIn`, `stepOut`,
`source`, `loadedSources`, `readMemory`, `modules`, `exceptionInfo`,
`disassemble`, and `disconnect`.

DAP variables can expose child references for structs/classes/arrays. Use
`setVariable` only while stopped; LLDB may reject writes to optimized-out or
read-only values.

For long-running GUI debuggees, DAP `continue` is non-blocking from the client's
point of view: the adapter sends the response and `continued` event first, then

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the d723bcd093f21379 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
