## What it does

The skill researches a subject across web pages, compares where sources agree or diverge, then turns the findings into a compact course. A lesson uses two voices for about two minutes, adds a card with the central idea, and gives the learner one small action to try. It can also build a class from one named person’s published work.

The workflow covers topic mapping, source collection, page scraping, reader notes, an agreement map, and a lesson plan. One class is kept under `./claudemy/<topic-slug>/`, with source lists, research notes, scripts, cards, audio files, a playbook, and delivery files. The skill does not inspect project files, personal notes, or settings.

Before it runs, the setup checks for `python3`, the `beautifulsoup4` package, and `ffmpeg`. Audio uses ElevenLabs when `ELEVENLABS_API_KEY` is available; otherwise it falls back to free macOS voices. Audio rendering therefore depends on `ffmpeg` being available.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add assafkip/claudemy --skill claudemy -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/claudemy/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add assafkip/claudemy --skill claudemy -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add assafkip/claudemy --skill claudemy -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install assafkip/claudemy claudemy
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add assafkip/claudemy --skill claudemy -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/assafkip/claudemy --path skills/claudemy
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add assafkip/claudemy --skill claudemy -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/assafkip/claudemy/tree/HEAD/skills/claudemy/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn a topic into a short audio course
- compare agreement and disagreement across sources
- split research into compact lessons
- attach cards and practice tasks to lessons
- build a class from one author’s published work

## Example prompts
- Create a beginner course on technical interviewing, with two-host audio lessons and a small exercise for each one.
- Teach me negotiation from Chris Voss’s published work and build the class in person mode.
- Break sourdough baking into short lessons, research the topic first, and render the cards and audio.

description: Turn any topic into a short audio course. Researches the topic on the web, works out what most good sources agree on and where they split, then writes and renders a broken-down set of 2-minute two-host audio lessons, each with a one-screen card and one small thing to try. Can also build the class from one specific person's work when asked. Use this whenever someone wants to learn a skill or subject ("teach me X", "make me a course on X", "I want to learn how to X", "break X down into lessons", "audio lessons on X", "a class on X from someone's writing", "podcast-style lessons"), even if they don't say "audio" or "class".

# Claudemy

Give it a topic; it researches it and hands back a course someone will actually finish. Each lesson is about 2 minutes of two voices talking, plus a card with the idea in three lines and one small thing to try. Every claim traces back to a page the class really read, and every lesson says how widely the sources agree.

Why this shape: short audio gets heard, one small practice gets done, a rule written into a playbook gets kept, and a citation to a real page keeps the lessons honest.

## Inputs
- **Topic** (required): "negotiation", "sourdough baking", "technical interviewing".
- **Lesson count**: default 12 (three arcs of four). The user can ask for more or fewer.
- **Level**: beginner by default. Use what the user says ("I already know the basics").
- **A person** (optional): "teach me negotiation from Chris Voss's writing". Then the class is built from that person's own published work, and research mode is skipped or used only to fill gaps (say which).

The class is general. It does not read the user's project files, notes or settings, and lessons don't assume anything about the learner beyond what they said in the request.

## Workspace
Everything for one class lives in `./claudemy/<topic-slug>/` under the current directory:
```
sources.json         the reading list (and the person, if one was asked for)
raw/web/             each researched page, one markdown file, front matter with url
raw/<person>/        that person's posts, only in person mode
research/            topics.md, notes/<batch>.md, agreement-map.md
class/lesson-plan.md
class/NN-<handle>/   script.txt, card.md, <handle>.mp3
class/playbook.md    the rules the learner keeps
deliver/             zips and combined cards
```
Scripts live next to this file in `scripts/`. Call them by absolute path.
