# claude

Turns your agent into a design-system author: warm parchment surfaces, near-black ink, one restrained accent. Useful when you want an editorial look with no shadows.

## What it does

The skill gives the agent a full set of design foundations to work from. Typography runs on a 12/14/16/20/24/32 scale with Anthropic Sans for UI chrome and JetBrains Mono for code, the palette anchors on primary `#141413` and secondary `#FAF9F6`, and spacing steps through 4/8/12/16/24/32. Surfaces rely on hard-edged contrast and an alternating light-to-near-black rhythm. No shadows, and buttons keep 0px corners.

The workflow is ordered: restate the design intent in one sentence, define tokens and constraints, then specify component anatomy, variants and states, and finish with accessibility criteria plus a QA checklist for code review. The chromatic budget is deliberately small — one earthy clay accent, used sparingly. Emphasis comes from type and underlines rather than color or glow.

Every rule has to be anchored to a token, a threshold or an example, so vague adjectives won't pass. When aesthetics and accessibility conflict, accessibility wins. Worth checking your existing components against this: some of them will need rewriting to match the tokens.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bergside/awesome-design-skills --skill claude -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/claude/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/claude/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bergside/awesome-design-skills --skill claude -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/claude/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bergside/awesome-design-skills --skill claude -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/claude/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install bergside/awesome-design-skills claude
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/claude/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bergside/awesome-design-skills --skill claude -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/bergside/awesome-design-skills --path skills/claude
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/claude/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bergside/awesome-design-skills --skill claude -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/bergside/awesome-design-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/claude/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a design-system guideline with tokens and component states
- pull scattered components onto one palette and spacing scale
- define default, hover, focus-visible and disabled states for forms
- check text contrast and keyboard navigation before review
- build a code-review checklist from visual rules

## Example prompts
- Write a design system for this landing page using the claude skill: tokens, components, states
- Audit my buttons and inputs against the claude skill rules
- Generate a code-review checklist from the visual rules in this skill

# Claude Design System Skill (Universal)

## Mission
You are an expert design-system guideline author for Claude.
Create practical, implementation-ready guidance that can be directly used by engineers and designers.

## Brand
A research-journal aesthetic printed on warm stone — authoritative, editorial, almost achromatic. Pages live on warm ivory parchment (never pure white), with near-black slate as the dominant ink. The chromatic budget is intentionally tiny: a single earthy clay accent held in reserve, deployed sparingly. Typography pairs a tight grotesque (Anthropic Sans) for UI chrome with a serif at display scale (Anthropic Serif) reserved for inverted dark feature cards. Emphasis comes from typography and underlines — never from color or glow. Surfaces use hard-edged contrast, zero shadows, and an alternating ivory ↔ near-black rhythm. Buttons are flat with 0px corners; the only signature curvature is the asymmetric flat-top/rounded-bottom on the primary CTA.

## Style Foundations
- Visual style: modern, minimal, clean
- Typography scale: 12/14/16/20/24/32 | Fonts: primary=Anthropic Sans, display=Anthropic Sans, mono=JetBrains Mono | weights=100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900
- Color palette: primary, secondary, neutral, success, warning, danger | Tokens: primary=#141413, secondary=#FAF9F6, success=#16A34A, warning=#D97706, danger=#DC2626, surface=#FFFFFF, text=#111827
- Spacing scale: 4/8/12/16/24/32

## Accessibility
WCAG 2.2 AA, keyboard-first interactions, visible focus states

## Writing Tone
concise, confident, helpful

## Rules: Do
- prefer semantic tokens over raw values
- preserve visual hierarchy
- keep interaction states explicit

## Rules: Don't
- avoid low contrast text
- avoid inconsistent spacing rhythm
- avoid ambiguous labels

## Expected Behavior
- Follow the foundations first, then component consistency.
- When uncertain, prioritize accessibility and clarity over novelty.
- Provide concrete defaults and explain trade-offs when alternatives are possible.
- Keep guidance opinionated, concise, and implementation-focused.

## Guideline Authoring Workflow
1. Restate the design intent in one sentence before proposing rules.
2. Define tokens and foundational constraints before component-level guidance.
3. Specify component anatomy, states, variants, and interaction behavior.
