## What it does

DeerFlow is an agent platform built on LangGraph that orchestrates sub-agents for research, code execution and web browsing. The skill talks to it over HTTP: checks health, creates a thread, streams a run and pulls the final answer out of the SSE events. It also lists models, skills and agents, toggles skills on and off, reads memory and uploads files into a thread.

Before any request the skill resolves environment variables. `DEERFLOW_URL` defaults to `http://localhost:2026`, and `DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL` plus `DEERFLOW_LANGGRAPH_URL` (`$DEERFLOW_URL/api/langgraph`) derive from it. Nothing answers on that port and the health check fails — the skill then tells you the instance has to be started. Behaviour is set in `context`: flash skips thinking and planning, standard adds thinking, pro adds a plan, ultra also enables sub-agents. Quick questions fit flash; research wants pro or ultra.

A helper script ships with it: `scripts/chat.sh` checks health, creates a thread, streams the run and prints the result. Uploads accept PDF, PPTX, XLSX and DOCX and convert them to Markdown. Thread IDs stick around, so you can come back to a conversation later.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bytedance/deer-flow --skill claude-to-deerflow -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/claude-to-deerflow/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bytedance/deer-flow --skill claude-to-deerflow -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bytedance/deer-flow --skill claude-to-deerflow -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install bytedance/deer-flow claude-to-deerflow
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bytedance/deer-flow --skill claude-to-deerflow -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/bytedance/deer-flow --path skills/public/claude-to-deerflow
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bytedance/deer-flow --skill claude-to-deerflow -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/bytedance/deer-flow/tree/HEAD/skills/public/claude-to-deerflow/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- ask DeerFlow a question and get the answer in the terminal
- start a thread for a deep research task
- confirm the DeerFlow instance is up
- list available models, skills and agents
- upload a PDF or DOCX into a thread and reference it

## Example prompts
- Ask DeerFlow what changed in LangGraph and show me the answer
- Run a deep research task on the EV market in ultra mode
- Upload `report.pdf` to the thread and summarize it

# DeerFlow Skill

Communicate with a running DeerFlow instance via its HTTP API. DeerFlow is an AI agent platform
built on LangGraph that orchestrates sub-agents for research, code execution, web browsing, and more.

## Architecture

DeerFlow exposes two API surfaces behind an Nginx reverse proxy:

| Service        | Direct Port | Via Proxy                        | Purpose                          |
|----------------|-------------|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
| Gateway API    | 8001        | `$DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL`          | REST endpoints and embedded agent runtime |
| LangGraph-compatible API | 8001 | `$DEERFLOW_LANGGRAPH_URL`       | Agent threads, runs, streaming   |

## Environment Variables

All URLs are configurable via environment variables. **Read these env vars before making any request.**

| Variable                | Default                                  | Description                        |
|-------------------------|------------------------------------------|------------------------------------|
| `DEERFLOW_URL`          | `http://localhost:2026`                  | Unified proxy base URL             |
| `DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL`  | `${DEERFLOW_URL}`                        | Gateway API base (models, skills, memory, uploads) |
| `DEERFLOW_LANGGRAPH_URL`| `${DEERFLOW_URL}/api/langgraph`          | LangGraph API base (threads, runs) |

When making curl calls, always resolve the URL like this:

```bash
# Resolve base URLs from env (do this FIRST before any API call)
DEERFLOW_URL="${DEERFLOW_URL:-http://localhost:2026}"
DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL="${DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL:-$DEERFLOW_URL}"
DEERFLOW_LANGGRAPH_URL="${DEERFLOW_LANGGRAPH_URL:-$DEERFLOW_URL/api/langgraph}"
```

## Available Operations

### 1. Health Check

Verify DeerFlow is running:

```bash
curl -s "$DEERFLOW_GATEWAY_URL/health"
```

### 2. Send a Message (Streaming)

This is the primary operation. It creates a thread and streams the agent's response.

**Step 1: Create a thread**

```bash
````
