## What it does

The skill generates test-running pipelines for GitHub Actions and GitLab CI. For branch pushes, it leaves quick linting and unit tests that finish in under two minutes. Pull requests trigger integration tests and sharded E2E runs, while full suites and security scans move to nightly builds. Workflows adapt to team maturity, scaling from single-job setups to multi-stage pipelines with strict SLAs.

Under the hood, it supplies workflow templates for Playwright and Jest. The skill configures matrix sharding and caches browser binaries in `~/.cache/ms-playwright`. Flaky tests are isolated into non-blocking quarantine jobs instead of masked behind retries. The skill explicitly rejects parsing coverage percentages with bash regex; runners must enforce thresholds directly via their own configuration.

If `.agents/qa-project-context.md` exists, the skill pulls maturity levels and CI conventions straight from that file.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitLab, Playwright

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill ci-cd-integration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ci-cd-integration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill ci-cd-integration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill ci-cd-integration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install petrkindlmann/qa-skills ci-cd-integration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill ci-cd-integration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/petrkindlmann/qa-skills --path skills/ci-cd-integration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill ci-cd-integration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/petrkindlmann/qa-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/ci-cd-integration/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- shard Playwright tests across multiple runners in GitHub Actions
- isolate flaky tests into a dedicated quarantine job
- cache Playwright browser binaries between workflow runs
- map test suites to CI triggers from branch pushes to release tags

## Example prompts
- Create a GitHub Actions workflow for Playwright sharded across 4 runners with browser caching
- Set up a flaky test quarantine job in GitLab CI so it does not block the pipeline
- Build a nightly CI pipeline for full test suites, security scans, and accessibility checks

<objective>
A 20-minute serial suite on every push destroys developer velocity; a green pipeline that retries flaky tests three times hides the race condition until it ships. This skill produces CI/CD pipelines that run the right tests at the right trigger, shard them across runners, store traces and reports as evidence, quarantine flaky tests instead of masking them, and gate merges on real coverage numbers. Use this skill when the question is about running tests in a pipeline, not writing them.
</objective>

## Discovery Questions

Check `.agents/qa-project-context.md` first — if it exists, use it and skip anything already answered there (especially `team_maturity` and existing CI conventions). Then:

1. **Which CI platform?** GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Jenkins? This skill ships templates for GitHub Actions and GitLab CI.
2. **What test types need to run?** Unit, integration, E2E, visual, performance? Each has different resource and timing needs.
3. **What is the current CI duration?** Over 10 minutes means parallelism and sharding are mandatory, not optional.
4. **How many developers push per day?** High-frequency teams need aggressive concurrency cancellation and caching.
5. **What triggers should run which tests?** Not every push needs a full E2E suite — map triggers to suites before writing YAML.

### Calibrate to team maturity

Set `team_maturity` in `.agents/qa-project-context.md`; pick the matching pipeline shape:

- **startup** — one job: lint + unit + one E2E smoke on PR. Fast feedback over completeness.
- **growing** — separate jobs for unit, integration, E2E. Parallelization, artifact uploads, result publishing, flaky quarantine.
